Is no news bad news? The market certainly thinks so! However, Alusid is probably waiting for optimal timing, Pulsiv seems promising but slow - as do a few others. Frontier certainly has a few companies at an advanced inflection point. Personally I don’t see the current share price as an accurate guide as to how the portfolio is progressing, it’s more a guide to how the market with very limited information, views the portfolio. |
Frontier is my biggest losing position but the share I get most excited about when I don't stare at my losses.....
Consider my view as like a battered house wife who is the only one saying "he can change".
I've resisted the urge to buy any more since the placing until some more concrete news is coming out. |
It’s not Rubbish but it definitely needs to deliver in a major way this year with at least one of the Portfolio companies. I’ve averaged down several times and now have far larger interest than originally planned like most I would imagine |
I would rather they got genuine commercial traction than winning an award...but it all seems very quiet on the marketing of their "potentially" award winning wares. I guess the markets they operate in are fast moving so the time it takes to gain some market share is vital before everyone catches up or supasses. |
Article in FT today; “UK small caps ‘most unloved’ stocks in the world”
Frontier cheap because it’s rubbish? Or cheap because it’s had no big news lately and it’s in the most unloved market in the world? |
These finalists were announced back in October and must admit I didn’t bother looking into it. Just looking now I noticed this criteria mentioned by the selection panel:
“the judging panel evaluated the finalists based on their total potential impact on the power electronics industry, whether through volume shipments or by social outcomes.”
It would suggest that despite the fact we’ve heard no news of contracts or sales yet, within the industry it is expected to sell very well. |

GraphEnergyTech flagged up about perovskite solar cells last week. It’s good to see their money saving technology attracting significant attention.
“This week, our CEO Thomas P. Baumeler is in Tokyo for Smart Energy Week, where the momentum around next-generation solar technologies is undeniable. Japan’s recent $1.5B investment in perovskite solar cells is a clear signal: lightweight, flexible solar solutions are set to transform energy infrastructure worldwide.” |
It may well be that the interests will be rolled into another fund. DBOX had the same situation with Downing, but the stake was taken on by another Downing fund. The reality is, that with illiquid micro caps dripping sales do neither party's or other investors any good. |
Miton UK MicroCap Trust announces their winding up their trust and holds circa 3% of FIPP as per latest report.
Any good news at the moment would be sold into by them and might explain the continued drop...? |
Graph energy tech news decent collaboration and grant but probably a number of years at least from any potential revenue creation. |
Well we definitely need a Mass product order soon |
It certainly does seem to take be taking an inordinate amount of time to hear something significant.
Below is an outline of the process to provide a design for a customer, which may explain why it takes so long. Now imagine if you have dozens of customers lined up, you may be best trying to complete the most complex design request, that way the others could follow on quite easily. Also, though I can’t locate post now, there was an urgent request from Pulsiv between Christmas and New Year for someone who could produce a prototype PCB. This would suggest purchase orders have been received and if prototype successful, news of mass production may not be far away.
“Our aim is to simplify the design process and ensure the most successful outcome for everyone involved.
Therefore, we have defined a clear step-by-step process as follows:
Open discussion. This is an opportunity for team members from both sides to discuss the project requirements and application. Define specifics. Here, we define the details including the product design, timescales, & target pricing. Feasibility Study. Upon receipt of a mechanical drawing, we undertake a technical feasibility study to ensure the specification can be met. Quotation. Upon positive confirmation of the feasibility study, an official quotation will be provided. Design. Upon receipt of the purchase order, design & layout of the customized module begins. Prototypes. Working prototype samples for customer evaluation will be provided within 6-8 weeks typically. Mass Production. Once prototypes have been verified, mass production begins. Production Deliveries. Mass production quantities are delivered in accordance with the customer’s delivery schedule.” |
Incredible we have still to hear of a Major Sales uptake of any of Pulsiv Technologies |
There really does need to be some serious news to get this moving. No announcement here has excited me for a while, all nice to know announcements but nothing that makes me think serious profits are on the way. |
 News from Des Solutio:
"14/2/2025
Frontier IP portfolio company Des Solutio is to bring together leading scientists and industry partners to learn about and discuss the latest developments in Deep Eutectic Systems (DES).
The 4th International Meeting on Deep Eutectic Systems is the world’s largest event devoted to DES. DES are where a mixture has a lower melting point than its constituent parts, and which has the potential to be much greener than conventional chemical processes. Des Solutio is using DES to create new greener solvents to replace the toxic solvents used widely in industries such as cosmetics and household products.
Potential uses of DES include:
Enhancing pharmaceutical ingredient solubility and bioavailability Improving the solubility of natural ingredients Use as extraction solvents or co-solvents Use in chemical reactions and bioanalysed reactions Metal processing Materials preparation.
This means DES can have important applications in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cosmetic, food and materials sectors.
The event is being held in Lisbon, Portugal, from the 23rd to the 26th June 2025. It all provide an opportunity to discuss the latest developments and collaborations in the field from the people leading the way. Learn more here: |
This morning's Alusid news reads extremely well. Topps Tiles must be very happy with Alusid's initial range to launch a second range of mass-produced floor tiles.
Good to see the reiteration of the potential Alusid IPO, but also the Alusid customer list is pretty impressive, i.e "Starbucks EMEA, Amazon, Nando's, Pret A Manger, Selfridges, Harrods and the BBC".
Incidentally, apologies if I missed it here or forgot it (highly likely!), but this on Nandi Proteins is reassuring from November:
"Nandi Proteins: revolutionising the humble sausage
Nesta Impact Investments backs Nandi Proteins to revolutionise the humble sausage and improve vegan options 22 November 2024
Nesta Impact Investments backs tech ventures working in areas aligned with Nesta’s 2030 impact goals. Nesta’s healthy life mission looks to increase the number of healthy years lived by all, with an initial focus on tackling obesity. Nesta is delighted to announce our investment in Nandi Proteins, a food science innovator that helps food producers that are under pressure to tackle social, health and environmental concerns. Nesta has backed Nandi Proteins to commercialise novel ingredients it has developed to reduce fat in popular foods, such as sausages and burgers, as well as improve vegan options. Nesta led this investment alongside Scottish Enterprise.
Nandi Proteins partners with protein producers to enhance the functionality of their ingredients and deliver improved products for their customers. The team is actively working on improving the functionality of whey protein, collagen and a growing number of plant proteins. They have developed ingredients to replace emulsifiers, remove fat and replace egg white.
etc" |
There was news last August with Nesta investing for the egg white replacement and the £500k raised. |
Question to everyone who posts Having read that communication would you have expected more in the following 3 1/2 YEARS .. |
Nothing since June 2021 Even though they have supposedly signed terms with a global Company. Obviously not worth a comment on the Redundant website .I contacted FIPP about the lack of website updates 18 months ago and they said it would be communicated with nice to see they are bothered |
JUNE 14, 2021 BY NANDI PROTEINS David Flower joins Nandi Proteins as Chief Executive Officer Nandi Proteins has appointed David Flower as Chief Executive Officer. David is the former Managing Director, Europe, for Singha beer maker the Boon Rawd Brewery Company. He was previously Managing Director Home Baking for Kerry Foods.
David joins Nandi at an important stage. The Company is scaling up its first commercial products to create a wide range of customised ingredients based on vegetable and animal proteins. These functional proteins can be used to replace undesirable ingredients, such as fat, gluten and E-number additives in processed foods, or those that people do not want to consume — for example, replacing animal proteins with vegetable proteins.
The Company has gained significant industrial traction and is collaborating with major companies on several applications, including:
vegetable proteins to replace egg whites and xanthan gum in gluten-free products to improve their taste and texture. Nandi is leading a project in collaboration with one of the world’s biggest ingredient companies, AB Mauri, and Origin Enterprises, part of Agrii to develop this technology vegetable proteins to replace egg whites in mycoprotein-based meat alternatives, turning vegetarian products into vegan products vegetable proteins to replace chemical binders in plant-based alternative meats proteins to replace chemical emulsifiers in baked products animal proteins to replace fat in processed meats. The technology is a suite of novel processes and process control technology to control very precisely the way proteins denature, consisting of hardware to sit in food manufacturing lines and software.
David has also been a Managing Director at Noon Foods and Commercial Director for Dairy Crest.
He is a non-executive director at Jack & Bry, which is developing jackfruit-based meat-free pepperoni pizza toppings, burgers and sausages.
I am delighted to be taking this leadership role for Nandi Proteins at such crucial time in the Company’s development. Against a backdrop of increasing consumer awareness of how important a healthy diet is and of the role of proteins within it, the Nandi offering is very relevant. Be it gluten replacements, fat substitutes, or others, Nandi’s technology will become part of the functional protein landscape.

Apologies AQC888 - I realise my post was ambiguous - what I meant was that the mean average pay for FIPP staff is £84k.
Anyway, I've bought a few here - so you're all doomed, sorry! :-) |
