Posted at 13/11/2002 09:32 by forethought FTF is about to break thru to retrace higher by my reckoning. Good support from a couple of days ago and a steady stream of buying. Could rise by at least 50% over the next month or two (IMHO). |
Posted at 08/11/2002 16:07 by forethought In theory, regardless of market conditions FTF should have a nice run up from here right into early 2003. As a contributor mentioned earlier, there is the Xmas and New Year new memberships and renewals to take into account. Coupled with a natural recovery from an oversold position. If we can break above this 125p level, which looks likely based on volume and momentum, then we're away! |
Posted at 07/11/2002 09:56 by forethought Chart looks pretty good here. I expect to see some good gains. The fall was most certainly over done but probably understandable in the context of the market as a whole. FTF has been a bit of a lagger in terms of recovery but is now the moment to get in ? Oh, most definately! (IMHO, DYOR etc). |
Posted at 18/10/2002 23:50 by airrage RAGINGCAT, Agreed, actions of the FATCATS disgusting. Should be fired not awarded options. Even better when a firm, re-prices Options when the share price falls. FTF are accomplishing the same effect here.Sorry can't help not a shareholder. |
Posted at 09/10/2002 17:02 by reetus Don't think they'll be back down to 90p again for a while. Just because the company announced profits may fall by 20%, doesn't really explain the share price got marked down by over 60% last week. Many people including myself are disappointed with the Trading Statement, so it is an understandable over-reaction with there being so many corporate earning scares recently, but atleast FTF is still making a healthy profit. So once the dust settles, I imagine these will recover (as they have been doing since) and with the company concentrating on filling its exisitng gyms rather than expanding so much, then the next update should hopefully be more positive. |
Posted at 09/10/2002 15:02 by airrage I used a stock screener last night and FTF still showed one of the highest buys if not the highest on the stock market based on the criteria I look for so I'll hold the rest for a while. Looking for 140P over the next few months.Looks like the sell was well timed, it's 119P to buy now. Again I expect a dip but steady recovery up, if not FTF will be taken out. |
Posted at 09/10/2002 14:58 by reetus Fair play to you. I think it's inevitable people will decide to take a profit in this market, which may deflate the FTF share a bit. |
Posted at 07/10/2002 14:52 by matthewa Well played boys & girls. 1.20 I reckon 1.30 easy if you dont mind some shaking. Shame I didnt long this @ 1.02 this AM that was a gift. Espeically with +ve LFS statement. Its been a long time since I bought a stock its very hard! Anyway Long FTF short HOL pair trade what do your eckon? |
Posted at 07/10/2002 13:46 by reetus Can't see a buyout happening from another operator, as FTF are the largest operator in Europe and I think Mike Balfour is the type of person that has the determination to make his vast network of gyms that he's built up from day one, thrive and succeed. He has commented that FTF may have grown to quickly and not contrated on maximising membership of existing ones, so I think an intense period of marketing should help get the company figures back in line again. |
Posted at 03/10/2002 17:36 by reetus It is certain that the likes of Fidelity Investments, State Street and the Capital Group of Companies will be analysing the Trading Statement and having talks with FTF if necessary. As these companies have recently acquired stock in FTF, I think they'll shortly be dipping into their fund coffers to average down their position. Does this announcement of an anticpated 20% fall (being prudent) in pre-tax profits warrant am immediate 35% fall in an already depressed share price? Looks overdone to me, but hey I could be wrong! |
