Lithium prices continue to heat up as Pilbara reports record spodumene concentrate auction

A rally in the prices of key lithium products for EV batteries is regaining steam following a slowdown this summer.

Pilbara Minerals was offered $7,708/t from a Chinese buyer for its spodumene concentrate.

A similar auction in August saw a bid of $7,012/t.

Refined lithium prices in China have touched new highs this week as EV makers ramp up finished product costs.

Chinese authorities have already suggested a price intervention if lithium prices continue to extend gains.

I think I saw a few gamblers today with "buyers remorse" as it maybe wasn't happening fast enough for them...but whatever.....there are a few that have invested well over the last few days....and they have not sold....me thinks there is a reason apart from the longer term MRE and new discovery...spread bet by Sebastian and his 6% + holding...perhaps a few assays on those lovely visible Spod samples?? Looking fwd. to finding out why!

Lithium prices extend gains as supply concerns regain market focus

Lithium carbonate prices touched $71,315/t in China on Friday, a new record.

Lithium hydroxide prices are nearing April’s all-time high levels.

Lithium prices weakened this summer but have now resumed their upwards momentum.

Demand remains strong for EVs, with China’s Passenger Car Association expecting EV sales to double 2021’s total at 6m vehicles.

Lithium producers have reinforced comments that supply remains an issue, with SQM predicting a ‘very tight market’ going forward.

well it was listed @ 13p....so nearly half price now.....but double+ the potential now!....and in such a short space of time....could trade this I expect for + 50% soon enough ....but I think I'll bottom drawer it for greater spoils.....the passion is there to put Côte d'Ivoire on the map! Can't wait for my other Neil Herbert (ex POLO) play (ALL) to get out of Ghana with a huge buyout and start to develop their assets in this country also!

So it looks to me like Sebastian Marr couldn't get enough shares directly so he also put on a spreadbet for nearly 3% of the market cap...and also increased his direct holding by over 1% to take his total holding to 9.45%......if I am right it certainly is a vote of extreme confidence.....and the significance of the spreadbet......does that mean something expected short term????? happy to be corrected if I've got this wrong?

Been a bit of a lag since this last interview and today's "breakout"...looks more to me like....someone knows something and shares this knowledge with a few friends.....then lunchtime comes and a group start to talk about FRG and then they start buying after lunch...few sell off later so most are holding from today's buys...Why? well that's the conundrum!

I'm not getting too excited yet since I hold at an average of 10.85p.....but I sure see value on the new discovery and the passion to do it for Côte d'Ivoire!
