Investor discussions regarding Filtronic Plc (FTC) have highlighted a recent significant contract win with SpaceX valued at £16.8 million, which has led to broker upgrades for the company's financial forecasts. According to comments from users, pre-tax profit estimates for 2024-25 were raised from £11.5 million to £11.9 million, and for 2025-26, from £8 million to £8.3 million. The sentiment among investors appears optimistic, particularly given the scale of recent contracts compared to prior years, with comments noting the stark contrast between past dealings and the current robust performance. One user commented, "This one contract announcement is to a similar value as annual turnover was a few short years ago! Absolutely astonishing."
However, discussions also indicate concerns related to client concentration, as many investors voiced the need for Filtronic to diversify its customer base beyond SpaceX. Comments such as, "Too many eggs in the SpaceX basket," reflect apprehension about dependence on a single client. Despite this caution, the overall outlook remains positive, with multiple participants expressing excitement over the potential for further growth and recognition of Filtronic's increasing importance in the aerospace and telecommunications sectors. "FTC's become almost indispensable to SX," remarked one investor, suggesting that the company's relevance in securing future contracts is growing, and further accolades are anticipated as they strengthen their position. The prevailing sentiment illustrates a blend of optimism tempered with the necessity for strategic diversification.

A couple of years ago we were announcing contracts worth £400k. After the Starlink contract I wonder what the threshold for announcing a new contract now is? |
This is what I referred to in my last post: |
My take on it is that they had already increased their numbers for FY25 and have marginally increased the most recent year given that FTC have beaten expectations. |
Good point wisecat, very odd to say the last. |
Am I missing something |
FY24 trading ahead of expectations |
Cavendish raise their target price to 91.9p |
From the rns look like a spread bet covering 1,365,180 shares. |
TBF David is a very successful investor and he is only top slicing an outstanding investment - more portfolio management than baling out I would venture. If he heads from (say) 10% to (say) 5% I would be more concerned (unless the share price is c200p ;-)) |
So he's the one top slicing. Get rid of him and another SpaceX contract and you'll see a decent gain |
and another top slice by David Newlands |
With the update today i was hopeful these might fly.. just the news was already built into the price.. |
