eburne1960: The question is: if the share price rises anywhere near the new offer, should we sell in the market and run on the basis it might not become a formal offer, and even if it does it might fail if the FIG or UK govt stick their oars in.
weatherman: This is Andrew Pierce in the DM from 2010. I don't know whether this is true, but FIG may wish to carry out due diligence before letting the Rowland family have full control. And the CEO wrote this in 17 November 2016, less than 3 months before announcing a low takeover / management buyout. "Group cash reserves are strong and the long term prospects for all 3 group businesses are sound. Our strategy will be to continue to invest for long term growth whilst seeking out quality acquisitions in complementary areas of business that will help increase the Group's scale, earnings potential, and sustainable long term returns for shareholders." Remember they cancelled the dividend with the promise of acquisitive growth to increase the share price, but it collapsed and no identified takeover targets have been forthcoming.
weatherman: They got a miserly 36% - so why extend without raising the offer? Shareholders would rather have no deal than a bad one because the assets of the company are worth more.
saints98: With you 100% weatherman. Audacious in the extreme. Given the thin board structure, all shareholders are in the hands of one individual on this given our Chairman is conflicted. I wonder if Jeremy Brade is 100% comfortable with this ...just how hard have they really been working to do deals these last 2 years? The cynic in me says Rowland had all this worked out a long while ago: cancel the divi, hit the share price as a consequence and grow the cash pile. Wait for outlook to improve as highlighted earlier (Argentine relations improve, oil price rallies), then make a bid 10% higher than the level at which he cancelled the divi originally (paid for by the cash saved from not paying out those dividends)Even the house brokers target is higher (320p). Only thing that gives me hope is we have rather curious shareholder list and the announcement suggests that others were made inside before the deal was announced and chose not to give irrevocables (i.e. A commitment of sorts to accept the bid). Hopefully more to come. Given long dated nature of these assets it will be a travesty if not (or a steal if you are a Mr E Rowland)
813061: Obviously no directors purchases despite a share price collapse was a clear sign. A lesson to be learnt for the future
wyorke: " Fish " is not .Com or Tel company, net gearin =90%, net asset = 76 P. share price my be go down, but if you buy at 30P price, hold on, you will be winner. when I buy shares,if net asset volue > share price and net gearing less 100%, hold-on, one day willbe winner, but if you buy TMT shares, when bad news out, share price downside, never will be up! because they have big debt(high gears) for ex:TWT,ENG,MONI...... thanks.
kiscokid: I had a meal over Christmas in one of these establishments and I thought it was a superbly run restaurant. Does anyone have any insider info on why the share price has been on a steady decline? Is the restaurant trade a dodgy gamble - or are more and more people eaing out now? Also worth bearing in mind that a lot of people are moving towards white meat/fish from the traditional steak and chips or yesterday. One to watch perhaps?
julianm: Question What activities have been discontinued and why? If you add the cont and discont for last period figures show a reduction in sales? Presumbly this reduction is the reason for the share price drop today? Any ideas
