They are partners in the same way I am a partner of McDonalds when I buy a happy meal. They simply have the image of their software available on the marketplace. Remember each of these ‘partnerships’ had resulted in zero new sales as uses have to bring their own license. Their AI talk is also pie in the sky. Do you think Google wouldn’t already be using it if it was faster? Or developed their own APL like language? Do FD have genius developers Meta don’t? K is fundamentally just a terse syntax, which is itself written in C.

I think this is now a medium risk high reward buy. MRP shoved off to the side is a good thing, and hopefully their partners buy the remaining equity when they get comfortable with it. But lets assume its worth nothing. What is left is consulting and Kx, generating £22m EBITDA. Assume consulting generates 60% of this = £13m. As a long established business in FS sector and a play on regulatory, it has to be worth 10x EBITDA so call that £130m in a sale process.

Then we have Kx, which is a pure play on data and AI, but also established tech rather than some new spin-out university start up, generating the remaining £9m EBITDA after a year of re-positioning the tech. They now have very credible partners on Kx in AWS, Microsoft, embedding the tech into these tech giant's AI propositions, so there is a real possibility that this business can achieve the long awaited explosive growth. Strategically they need to forget about MRP, flog off consulting, take the cash and put it all behind Kx growth.

Then get the hell off AIM, and bring the business to NASDAQ in 2025, as a pure play on AI. With evidence of ARR of > 100% and EBITDA of $20m the business could float at 30-60x earnings....not out of the question...as there are AI start-ups in the US valued at $2.6bn before they have done anything.

Well what a disaster. Yet again my sympathies Julia as having to watch your the fantastic company your husband built being trashed by these clowns must be galling.

The con5inuing shareholder destruction is shocking.

Relating to the above shareholder holding I contacted the company. It took 4 calls until I spoke with some head honcho in their Investor Communications. What a clown.

No interest shown in the shareholder, no discussion, very defensive. I left the call feeling that thisc was a company I did not want to be part of. More is the pity that I did not follow up my convictions with a sell.
I will now wait to see who has reduced their holdings. I’m hoping that this new active investor will add and use that to gain a place on the board and give these the kicking they deserve.

we trained hard-but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form into teams, we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and what a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency and demoralization.

KX revenues in 2019 were 90m

So to confirm, in the last 5 years FD have spent 106m on R&D, on a database that fits on a single floppy disk (not joking the executable is tiny) and managed to reduce revenue.

The product is 30 years old. Anyone who would need it (quants) knows about it. No one else needs it however much they pretend there are new markets to conquer. If they stopped all R&D, sales & marketing that's 40m per annum back in shareholders pockets.

Goodbody quotes the company as hoping to almost triple revenues from Kx in the next 42 months, question is whether they have the funds to invest in the project to accommodate the growth, assuming it takes place?

I no hopes for their new KX AI offering. EVERY database vendor is now claiming that they are a vector database so what makes KX so special? They are pumping millions into this.
