Blue, Given how some of my other investments have performed over the last couple of years I am not sure if there is more capital risk here, plus a fab dividend.

Downside?

Arguably more risk to capital than with your average share. And unlikely to have capital growth. But the latter point is more than compensated by the earnings.

Blue. 14.28% is fantastic. But working on the adage that ' One doesn't get something for nothing'.

What's the downside here?

Regular 2c Q3 dividend declared, paid 13th December.

The shares won't move much, but that's a fabulous yield of 14.28% on 0.56 USD.

full English, please don't shoot the messenger. I only pointed out that there are similar companies to FAIR. That is definitely not a recommendation. FAIR is my preferred pick by a long way, although I do have a few VTAS.

That's an early declaration and even earlier payment date than usual.

Long term trend 5 or 7 years doesn't look too pretty. But add back your dividends and you would be in profit. Traditionally wide spread makes for poor trading opportunities. Technically has a wind up date in 2028 but FAIR will roll that over. My second biggest holding and in it to win it since 2015.

Alternatives TFIF, VTA, MPLS

Anything you add now will be priced in cheap dollars, and divi in dollars. Once the US election is out of the way I would expect the pound to drop relatively. Existing shares regain value and the new ones would be in profit.

I first bought over a year ago and have never regretted it - the income has been phenomenal and capital slightly in profit.

They are classed as having specific risk but HL will allow you to buy once you've gone through an additional regulatory process which is fairly straightforward. Basically it involves you putting on record that you understand the sector & their business model. They don't test you on your knowledge, you just have to answer yes or no! There are also some caveats about trades in a foreign currency which they have to repeat verbally each time you deal ..

Once done, you can then deal (by phone only) through HL.

Anyone know why HL appears not to allow buying of FAIR?

I believe the correct comparison is today's discount versus the historical average. Since its inception, FAIR has consistently aimed to trade at NAV. I might have a go at calculating this later in the week.

FAIR yield is higher. Which do you want, bird in hand or two birds in the bushes?

VTA looks a better buy at 20%+ below NAV?
