450p first target doesn't look so fanciful, now.

Second target 500p

Yes, not much point in thinking of selling until over 600p as that'll come easily within 2 years, then need to re-assess business going forward and takeover possibilities.

800p by 2012 should be entirely possible, could you get a better, easier return in many other equal risk investments?

450p first target in sight and who can blame investors, this stock is seeing growth opportunities in the Credit Crunch, increasing revenues @ 13% pa and has a geographically diversified spread of businesses that will shield EXPN from the worst aspects of UK recession.

A recession stock par excellence.

I told a fib, sorry - it was £6b:

GUS' Experian unit lined up for 6 bln stg US private equity bid - report
02.05.2006, 10:46 AM

LONDON (AFX) - US private equity firms Hellman & Friedman and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) are in the early stages of a 6 bln stg bid for Experian, the credit-checking arm of GUS PLC, the Sunday Times reported without citing sources.

The paper said the two groups have approached banks about advising on and financing a potential deal, and are also looking for other private equity firms to take part in what would be one of the UK's biggest ever leveraged buy-outs.

GUS, which demerged luxury fashion label Burberry in December, said last month that it was committed to separating its remaining businesses, Experian and retail unit ARG, 'at the right time.'

EXPN offers financial/information services that will still be needed in 50 years' time - a very acquirable target - but by whom?

Private equity nearly got it for £5b pre-listing but were turned down - they could reappear when funding becomes easier.

More likely - another purely financial institution but one with an international footprint.

Is this a potential takeover target? If so,who would be interested?

williebiz thanks for the info, yes it does not appear to be separated out, so its difficult to know how that part of the business is doing.

Recently they added global banking payments specialist earthport to their portfolio. They provide bank payments internationally at a very low cost and are now just turning the corner. Two brokers notes and recently penciled in a million profit, which is just the start. predicted June 2009 profits I think of 4 million and 1.7 Million in H1 2009.

Well, 20x E would put mkt cap @ £5.5b or nearly 45% upside from here, ie target share price 538p.

Of course, that's based on historic E, which is growing strongly even in the Credit Crunch.
