Online retail giant Amazon has revealed record sales in the last three months of 2012, reinforcing concerns for the future of high street shopping.

The Seattle-based firm said international sales, including the UK, spiked 20% to $9.09bn (£5.7bn). The global boost pushed the company's total Q4 net sales to $21.3bn (£13.5bn), up 22% from the previous year

Was never worth the valuations back in 2010 and many of us flagged it at the time

But take out the exceptional one time costs now and add in the up to £1m in annual cost savings that will be brought about by restructruing and the results are not that bad. Albeit not what was expected by some todays news was mostly flagged previously in June and August in the previous updates. Also sales/profits are weighted into H2 not H1 and they seem very upbeat about Asia so H2 will be interesting. Also they have made full provision for the possible DSNS clawback and they think that there is no legal claim so perhaps they will have a gain later to add back when the negotiations end but prudent to expect worse case especially if you want to get all the bad news priced in now. So all in all now at 1p an EV of £10m and EBITDA of £3m is not that bad. If they hit these numbers then its at least worth 2p per share and worse case its worth 1p even allowing for more deterioration and lets say a fall to £2m EBITDA. Wonder will see more Directors buying?

Singer downgraded its current year pre-tax profit forecasts by £1.1million to £3.2million and next year's by £1.4million to £3.6million

Sorry folks. I clearly did well to exit when I did. I was beginning to think that decision was a mistake - but it turns out it was not. So much for broker forecasts!

At first glance, looks like a very poor set of results, cash balances materially down & a warning thrown in for good measure....

5pointplan: not entirely sure myself. I took it that he meant PJ would have no hesitation sacrificing xps or his interests in it, should that suit his wider agenda.

By the way, I am out of xps at present. I just cannot make my mind up about it.

I tend to try and invest when both the fundamental and technical pictures look strong. At present I have nagging doubts on both fronts.

At the same time, I don't feel entirely comfortable being out - hence continuing to monitor closely.

I suppose it has just come down to having stronger convictions about the stocks I am holding at present, and not an especially strong appetite for risk in current markets.

5pointplan: just type ZULU in the EPIC box - as if you were looking for a stock.

In my opinion, its the best thread on ADVFN. If you still can't find it let me know!

I am out today as well - not entirely XPS specific - but just don't trust US politicians to sort anything out in the short term! Will continue to monitor.

I think the chart has to be watched carefully here. There was a nice bowl formation between October 2011 and April 2012. That gave every encouragement that the long term downtrend had reversed. However, that chart formation failed.

We have had another nice bowl forming since that time. The crucial question for me: is the downtrend finally going to reverse, or will the bowl pattern fail again?

I suspect the next major move could be very significant in helping to answer that question. I am increasingly worried at the weakness today and have my finger on the trigger to sell.

I don't mind jumping in and out here (as I have done in the past) until the fundamental story also becomes clearer.
