Possibly but 750k buy and more buys at mid price seem to be taking up the slack.

1.35p offer online, seems quite cheap considering it was much higher a week ago.

I see EE, orange and tmobile, are saying that pay as you go clients are in large decline. Due to smartphone take up and the fact they work out much cheaper on contract than pay as you go.

There'll always be criticisms of companies fundamentals depending on people's own view. It's good to see a rounded perspective and helps those bulls to draw a balanced view. At present it's going up so its a good company, if tomorrow it falls it becomes a bad company, I'm simply interested in momentum but appreciate the input.

There has been some recent critical analysis of XPS on the "ZULU" thread, should anyone be interested.

My Chromebook turned up today from EXpansys, all good, nice product, well packed, etc. Good service, as it should be.

Certainly a sudden "sea change" on the interest front and in share price momentum. Long may it continue.

Thanks, Paul. That is very helpful.

In a way, the Company can be seen as three businesses (the retail websites; SIM Distribution and PJMedia). In its own words:

The Group comprises EXPANSYS.com, a global online consumer electronics retailer operating directly in 51 countries (and indirectly in over 200 countries) with a unique global footprint, infrastructure and experience in consumer technology eCommerce, PJMedia, who build and operate multi-channel services and solutions for mobile networks worldwide and DSNS, the UK's market leading SIM card distributor and now establishing as a national SIM distributor in USA.

As to PJMedia:

PJMedia is leading the way in innovative eCommerce and mobile solutions for the telecommunications sector to help improve efficiencies, reduce costs and drive new revenue streams for mobile networks and MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators).

PJ Media has just won a contract "to provide compulsory top-up services to UK Pre-Pay customers of Everything Everywhere (Orange), the largest UK network by customer numbers."

And when you think that Expansys is "excited by the opportunity to support more mobile networks globally" that is rather exciting from a private investor perspective too!

Hi Saucepan,

To answer your question,

1. Intangibles are irrelevant - just write 'em off & see what the Bal Sheet looks like afterwards. In this case, it looks fine after all intangibles written off, in fact there is a nice cash pile of about a third of the mkt cap, which doesn't look like a seasonal peak to me.

2. No divi - I agree, would be nice to see a divi introduced, but all in good time. Growth companies should grow first, and pay divis later.

3. Reported & adjusted profit - the info is in the last set of results, so just a question of DYOR. I didn't see anything untoward.

Personally, what I like about eXpansys, apart from the good bal sheet & low valuation, is that it's ads are all over the internet, and I was able to order a Google Chromebook at a great price, and their delivery system so far is excellent - sending me emails with a direct link to click to the status of the delivery with Parcelforce. Also had a msg on my phone from a person, explaining that they had to split my delivery into 2, which was a nice touch.

Always going to be a low margin business, but it looks a decent business for just 16m mkt cap. Operating in 50 countries too, if my memory serves me correctly.

Regards, Paul.

I am a "bull", but would still be grateful if the accountants out there would respond to the following observations:

Hi Saucepan, does the large difference between reported and adjusted profit not concern you?
Nice cash pile, shame there`s no divi.
What`s with the intangibles, £50M in a £14M MC company, is this normal?

All IMO, hope this keeps going up for you :)

It is reassuring to see you here, too, fugwit (and davidosh)!

I have followed XPS closely for over a year now and there has definitely been a step change of some kind over the last two or three days - and not least the arrival on the thread of shrewd investors.

The chart reversal is looking very convincing now.

Edit: davidosh, could Expansys be a candidate for a mello event?

Was anyone here able to attend the recent AGM?

No to poker, it is on the list of things to learn but only because I like a nice cigar and have often thought the two would go well together. NWS noted, where is it likely to take place?

Hello saucepan and pp, it always pleases me to see you both turn up at something I am interested in. XPS has been putting in a persistent appearance on my zulu (ish) screen for a few months now.

Anecdotally I have a couple of chums who swear by xps for getting hold of phones in the UK some months before they become available, particularly those of Asian origin. They love the company and its service. Doesn't make a business I know but thought would throw it out there.

Good to see you turning up here and sniffing value. That is reassuring. I have been following XPS for a while: liking both the fundamental story and the shape of the chart. The latter looks a classic reversal to me.

Do you have any thoughts on the following interesting observation (which no one has reacted to) - always glad to hear two sides of the argument.

Hi,

Had a quick look at the figures for this company, and I like what I see.
Low margin business, but delivering solid profits, 40% owned by Peter Jones is a positive, and their adverts seem to be everywhere I look on the internet - so I bought a laptop & a tablet off them!

Regards, Paul.
