I tendered my entire holding in my II ISA, and was very surprised and pleased today to see the proceeds paid in full without any scaling back. I assume there must have been a lot of other EOT shareholders with II, who ignored the tender offer completely. Either that or II stuffed up again!

I've lost my patience with this investment trust and sold out. It has few attractions: poor 5 year record, superstar manager who has not fared well on his own and very poor dividend. Better opportunities in this market.

‘Dear’ Darwall and Train
Alexander Darwall’s European Opportunities Trust (EOT) makes a surprise appearance in third place in our ‘expensiveR17; list with a 2.5 Z-score. Share buybacks and a comparatively stable performance in the past month as European stock markets have stepped back after a good run has narrowed the discount from 14% to below 11%. That’s still wider than the 8% average discount of its peer group and doesn’t signal a strong recovery for a former sector leader that is still getting over the Wirecard debacle from a few years ago. The shares remain bottom of the pile over three years with a total return of just 4.4%.
