No idea what UPL are up to but worth remembering we are their partners in Hardstoft as well. No harm in waiting I suppose until or if a better investment appears. To be honest I would be delighted if they backed out. More production now would be really good and of course since the deal was done the OP has risen and by all accounts is likely to continue to rise.

News from Nexen .. tender out for rig in the Porcupine next summer!

Well here's a thought ... the ANGS RNS this morning reveals for the first time that they want to put in place a generating plant as part of their FDP proposal to the OGA. I had considered that they may be thinking about a standard petrol or diesel plant that they have planning permission for AND which is mentioned in the RNS. But if that were the case then they wouldn't need OGA approval so I have to assume it must be gas driven. But they have never mentioned gas at Brockham so I assume it is part of the sidetrack that they haven't released information about. A lot of BUTS here.. but if it is gas then they definitely need EA approval maybe not SCC approval because you can put a gas generator in a building that already has planning permission. I do hope they haven't been trying to pull the wool over SCC planners ...

I'm a bit nervous for Angus and sold on the 10th August as latest FOI request of a letter from SCC to the OGA revealed the extent of their difficulties with Brockham approval.

I can see though that their position re. BRX4-Z can be defended. Probably the less said now in an RNS the better, as this might go to court.

Seems they prefer to use their web-site to comment on Brockham rather than through an RNS (I wonder if this is for legal reasons).

Someone like me looking from the outside needs to make a judgement whether the OGA is still going to approve Brockham or not and decided the risks were too great.

Thanks for the post from N Lincs Council. I think Upland Resources board is due to decide by the end of the month whether to wait any longer for Wressle approval or look for something else (with some momentum behind it). Their decision is going to be a barometer of whether Egdon feels confident or not.

Back to Wressle .. the North Lincs Council have published their response to the appeal

They are basically arguing against their own planning officer who you would assume knows more about planning than them. They have of course made it sound very plausible but there are some very laughable statements in there including the fact that they are going try and vindicate the councillors who suggested they doubted the Environmental Agency ability. I would presume that we will call the Environmental Agency as a witness so good luck to NELincs on that score.

Also they have omitted some stuff that I am sure Egdon will nail them on.

Looking very good and I continue to wonder why NELincs is even bothering to spend so much money on countering an appeal that is bound to be granted.

30th Offshore licencing round closing soon ... some coastal acreage near our onshore licences could be of interest hxxps://www.ogauthority.co.uk/media/4015/30r_round_offer.pdf

Wonder whether we will apply or are happy with our lot at the moment. I suggest the latter - our order book of prospective company makers is pretty full to overflowing at the moment.

I do like the graph above - a real trend line with spikes that if you play your cards right can be traded. I've done all right on that score so far but remain a long term holder as well.

Holmwood planning in October is merely a deferment asking questions on the proposals to meet the conditions. Pretty straightforward to respond to given that our planners negotiate the responses with the SCC CPA. The SCC planning committee will be struggling to come up with additional requests. Pretty sure the majority of local residents will want to get the whole thing over and done with as soon as possible.

Yes gwb - ANGS has 50% (possibly 60 if they ever manage to have their other purchase approved by the OGA) of 9km2 - call it 6km2 - of the original 100km2 PEDL143 via Brockham. They also have 10% of the remainder so 10km2. We have 20% of that so 18km2 PLUS of course we are fully covered for the costs of the well while Angus are in for 20% of the cost.

SO we own more yet are valued at 1/3rd of Angus. Plus of course we have production while ANGS await news from SCC who must provide the OGA with details of planning permission for Brockham before the OGA approves the Brockham FDP.

Interesting thoughts. I seem to remember that we also have more exposure to the Weald Kimmeridge than ANGS.

However, if the reported possible presence of bitumen is confirmed as being real then this would have the effect of de-risking the presence and effectiveness of source rock. We can infer that if oil is present then a source rock is present and effective somewhere in the vicinity. Europa considers that Late Jurassic mudstones (and possibly Earliest Cretaceous mudstones) provide the source rock for all the hydrocarbon plays in the South Porcupine basin: Pre-rift, Syn-rift, Cretaceous Slope, Cretaceous Fan and Paleocene. If the Drombeg bitumen is verified as oil then we would interpret this to de-risk some of the source rock presence and effectiveness component across all four of Europa's licences in the basin.
