27/1/2005 09:33 | 1destiny if they are cash flow break even at the operating level, why do they need to raise cash ? They will soon be generating net operating cash rather than losing it. Also the results dont give any hint of raising new cash. secondly they have tangible assets of £22m and debtors of £51m.. which finance can be secured against. | ed winchester
27/1/2005 09:30 | does Eurodis aquire enough assets to offset debt if something goes wrong? any of you believe a placing is inevitable or they are healthy in terms of cash | 1destiny1
27/1/2005 09:24 | chiansaw we want as much volume as possible today to take out any lingering overhang. | ed winchester
27/1/2005 09:23 | Didn't spot that note Kiwi. If you undo the working capital squeeze as is not something that will recur you have an operating cash outflow of 3.3m then take of interest and we have an underlying movement in net debt of 5.4m. At 17% margin we need a 31m increase in turnover to reach a cash neutral position. On a quarterly basis that should be acheived by year end IMHO. | youngers
27/1/2005 09:23 | Looks like you are right KH. Comd STILL HAVE BID AT 1.57 AND OFFER AT 1.56. Looks like b/even could be very near. Very relieved this morning! | chiansaw
27/1/2005 09:18 | well spotted kiwi. implies they are very close to cash flow breakeven at the operating level, even better.. cash flow positive in the second half of trading ? | ed winchester
27/1/2005 09:12 | chainsaw ... every trade has been a buy so far ... pippin, am I right ... 5.5M cash outflow from operating activities but ... "... Included in the net cash flow from operating activities is a cash outflow for non recurring costs of EUR 4.9m (2003: EUR8.0m) ..." That makes an operating cash outflow of only 0.6M Eur. | kiwihope

27/1/2005 08:48 | Dell314 / Pippin. Note your comments, but the market tends to price for the future as well as the present. Before these results the city was pricing this co on the basis of little or no future. The results confirm it pretty much HAS a future. A re-rating should occur on this basis - ie it with price reflecting the ongoing concern value rather than the fire sale value. As someone on another website has pointed out the co also has substantial losses to offset vs tax in the future which can add to its attractiveness to a purchaser. | momentos
27/1/2005 08:41 | LONDON (AFX) - Eurodis Electron PLC, a pan-European distributor of electronic components, said its first half results were in line with expectations as it narrowed pretax loss. The company also announced the appointment of senior non-executive director, Bill Alexander as group finance director. Chairman Doug Rogers said: "The group continues to make progress. The level of trading losses is substantially reduced from the prior year. "Notwithstanding the competitive environment, we expect to gain some business from new franchise arrangements, from our increasing participation in high growth areas such as wireless and power supply technologies, and from the alliances with our business partners ATeG and WPG." He said the reduction in operating costs has materially reduced the breakeven point, which will help return the business to profitability in due course. In the six months to November, sales dipped to 154.6 mln eur from 171.4 mln the year before but pretax loss narrowed to 13.2 mln eur from 29.8 mln or 9.0 mln stg from 20.7 mln stg before. newsdesk@afxnews.com ra | addicted2shares
27/1/2005 08:38 | Little bit of blue...always nice. Stick my neck out - reckon insts must be considering ELH now as a longer term buy - let the next few hours clear a few nervy T traders out (not a lot anyway judging form past few days volumes)- and then a few larger buys towrads/post close. 10% up plus on day.... | chiansaw
27/1/2005 08:38 | I'm afraid I have to agree with dell on these figures. I was looking for a return to cash break-even - net debt stabilising over the period. The company was promising a year ago that that was imminent and it still isn't, it seems. This is not a survival issue, I'm sure. It just delays by another six months or more the day when the share price can move sharply ahead. If they had reached cash break-even I would have jumped in this morning. As it is, I'll just leave it on the watch list and put the dosh elsewhere. Sorry not to join you guys but, unlike haystack, I hope I'm wrong and you get a decent upward movement soon. | pippin
