25/1/2005 19:48 | One of the key statements imo back in the November pre close update was this: "We expect that net debt at 30 November 2004 will be below Eur 60m. Our facilities headroom is in line with our expectations and, notwithstanding the usual Christmas seasonal dip, we expect headroom to remain adequate going forward." This is the final results statement: "As at 31 May 2004, net debt was EUR 47.5m (2003: EUR 96.1m), giving a net debt to equity ratio of 1.1 (2003: 2.3)." This gives us a handle on the cash position deterioration. Effectively it is saying max 12.5m Euros. | momentos
25/1/2005 18:19 | Upbeat Firm Talks of 15% Chip Market Growth By David Manners -- Electronics Weekly, 1/25/2005 Worldwide semiconductor sales will grow at 15 percent this year, according to projections at IFS2005 the International Semiconductor Forecast Seminar 2005, organized by Future Horizons in London today. "We think the first half of 2005 will be slow but Q3 will be strong," said Malcolm Penn, CEO of Future Horizons. He expressed surprise that other analysts are putting out lower forecasts. "The perceptions are appalling, no one believes in the industry," said Penn. In-Stat, for example, is predicting a 5.7 percent fall in semiconductor sales in 2005. One reason for Penn's optimism is that the industry has been surprisingly disciplined in the last six months -- cutting back sharply on capital expenditure as soon as the markets started to look soft in July 2004. Another reason is that, box production has continued to increase suggesting that end market demand has not softened, and that ordering cutbacks merely reflected a wish to control inventory. On the investment side, Penn saw the venture capitalists coming back strongly into the semiconductor industry with $20 billion invested last year and 250 IPOs achieved. In the peak year of 2000, the figures were $106 billion invested and 385 IPOs achieved. But the venture capital and stock market flotation activity is now significantly strengthening. | mike012321
25/1/2005 17:11 | Sorry Mike.. i gave the wrong inference No i cant know can I... because that would be insider knowledge and illegal But we should be , as active investors, able to work a number out without guessing So ive done the sums and looked at market expectations.. and..I know rogers wont wanna show a full hand .. yet Rethink for me if its below that....... | westernedge
25/1/2005 16:54 | That extrapolation based on 2004 Annual report. Sales e327.9m, Gross Profit e52.4. Assuming static gross profit margin: To cover 2004 operating expenses (e75.4m) need 44% increase to e471m. To cover e63m operating costs flagged in recent statement need 20% increase to e394m (excludes interest, exceptionals). No skew towards H1 or H2 so anything near 200m Euros means were well on the road to recovery. | momentos
