30/8/2019 16:28 | Palladium is going ballistic! | pennstreet
30/8/2019 16:21 | Sorry Red....by the time I typed that...you have described the process in great detail. Happy days! GLA !! | snowman100
30/8/2019 16:19 | RNS 13th August.....' The Detailed Project Design Report (including open pit design, detailed land survey of the two open pit sites, etc.), the preparation of which was contracted to Central Kola Expedition (CKE) is now ready' As soon as this is released in an RNS we will know how it will be fully processed. They will describe the process once it has been ratified by the relevant authority. I think it will be too much volume to process on site....my latest guess it that the ore will certainly be blasted on site and maybe crushed on site, then transported by train to a nearby smelting works, where it will be roasted and the minerals chemically extracted? .....might be very wrong, but here is a process they use to extract nickel..... 'Nickel: smelting, producing-Metalpedia Nickel is recovered through extractive metallurgy: it is extracted from its ores by conventional roasting and reduction processes that yield a metal of greater than 75% purity. ... After producing the nickel matte, further processing is done via the Sherritt-Gordon process.' 'Recovery from nickel-cobalt sulfide concentrates (Sherritt process) ... The solution is then further reduced with more sulfuric acid and cobalt metal powder is added to aid in the nucleation of precipitants (seeding). Addition of hydrogen gas to saturation precipitates cobalt powder with a purity of approximately 99.6%..' I would imagine the process fairly similar for multi minerals...perhaps an added stage or two?? Norilsk have a very close smelter/refinery don't they? Happy days. | snowman100
30/8/2019 16:18 | They said once approval comes they could "commission" another washplant, so presumably it's sitting awaiting documentation? | excellance
30/8/2019 16:12 | Cheers Red Sounds about right. | driver101
30/8/2019 16:06 | ... just google 'pgm mining process' .... That's why SinoSteel is building a plant, and its not to provide cover for several trommels :-) Just to add...I understand that we will be producing the concentrate and shipping it to suitable smelters to refine it. | red rook
30/8/2019 16:02 | Tyically for the production of platinum group metals the ore is crushed and milled into fine particles. Wet chemical treatment known as froth flotation produces a concentrate which is dried and smelted in an electric furnace at temperatures over 1,500°C. A matte containing the valuable metals is transferred to converters to remove iron and sulphur. PGMs are then separated from the base metals nickel, copper and cobalt, and refined to a high level of purity using a combination of solvent extraction, distillation and ion-exchange techniques. | red rook
30/8/2019 15:57 | HZM flying now EUA will also fly soon. Can't believe it's still this cheap! | excellance
30/8/2019 15:55 | driver - thanks for your reply | charles clore
30/8/2019 15:43 | cc Should have said, I’m not sure what’s going to be used-at MT | driver101
30/8/2019 15:35 | cc No W/plants at MT, you miss read. I should have used a comma. | driver101
30/8/2019 15:28 | driver - are you sure washplants will be used at MT? I haven't been able to find any reference to the method of extraction but MT is a rich polymetallic resource and needs to cater for a diverse range. I just don't know. | charles clore
30/8/2019 15:23 | Still 2 full months of production left this season. Would be worth setting up the second wash plant if we get the signal soonish? | pennstreet
30/8/2019 15:15 | I think at WK we should hope for 150kg+ for this season anything greater will be a bonus. The plant has moved if there is no nugget affect at the new sight then aim lower. Next season all is to play for possible multi W/plants at WK and MT kicking in. As long as it keeps the lights on and the wages paid I’m happy. | driver101
30/8/2019 15:09 | Pt up 2.2% Pd up 4.8% | excellance
30/8/2019 15:04 | Plus, don't forget we have a one and a half extra percentage point refinery advantage this year. From RNS 15th May 2019 ...'A further contract was also agreed at the Refinery, with a substantially improved sales margin (refining cost) for platinum which was reduced from 3% of LME to 1.5%.' Also, last year for part of the year the contract changed from 65%/35% in favour of contractor to 70%/30%......but this year the May 15th RNS said the contract had reverted back to 65%/35%. So those 2 points will mean a fair bit more profit margin this year over last year. Plus more efficient processing, plus higher platinum price (and still rising).....all adds up very nicely indeed! | snowman100
30/8/2019 14:58 | ... Pd continues to be a star performer ... and as indicaed in recent links posted, Pd will continue to rise well into next year. | red rook
30/8/2019 14:55 | Ni just hit $8/lb | excellance
30/8/2019 14:52 | We just don't know... I've already guessed at 450kg by end of season but of course it could be 150kg. Scale up yes, single wp, grades 3-4 x expectation, improved process and recovery. Meanwhile pd up 4.4% | excellance
30/8/2019 14:47 | Also factoring in better cashflow too as grade increase means lower cost per Oz as should higher recovery as there's less waste. Regards, Ed. | edgein |
