21/1/2014 18:31 | Good call here bb2; I made a big mistake not getting on board back in the early 40's. Do you have a price target in mind, prior to any transformational aquisdition? | janeann

21/1/2014 11:03 | Would any of you like to come to a small company presentation next Monday at 4pm with John Lewis of Hungerford (new handmade kitchens and bedrooms)at their newly refurbished Fulham showroom ? There will be a large number of investors and current shareholders and no doubt shareholder discounts will be very worthwhile if any of you are looking to improve your homes. I think JLH will do very well as the economy improves and must declare a notifiable interest but it would be good to see a few of you there if you can make it ? David | davidosh
21/1/2014 09:25 | Sixty pence approaching fast :)) | battlebus2

20/1/2014 21:00 | Posted on the fool Essenden Market cap 10.5m @ 49p Owns 30+ bowling alleys t/a Tenpin T/O in dec 2008 was 62.8m and EBITDA 6.6m Complex structure as when was spun off 21m loan notes were issued to be repaid in 2020. Current management own a significant number of the loan notes and are incentivised to pay them off early. A number of sites were sold off as loss making and onerous leases are being disposed of gradually. By half year 2013, described as a tough economic climate for the business EBITDA was 2.9m and EPS 4.7p, cash was £1.4m. Trading was up 8.4% in the 15 weeks to Christmas and EBITDA 'increased' suggesting the end of year figures may be 10p plus and EBITDA around £6m, for a £10m company, remarkable. Directors receive £2.5m bonus for paying off notes by jan 2013 with 25k less per month after that so the bonus currently would be £2.2m and falling but with the likely cash flow associated with current trading and future improved trading as the economy improves may pay these off in the next 3 years or so. Leaving a company currently valued at £10.5m throwing off perhaps £4m in cash/year. This is still under recognised but went up 30% following the trading statement. Difficult to buy in quantity so would need to get small chunks | drsmessguide
20/1/2014 18:26 | 5/10% daily rises are the norm now aren't they? :)) | battlebus2
20/1/2014 18:20 | A steady day? Up 11% or so? I wish my whole portfoilio was this steady, battlebus :) | gargoyle2
20/1/2014 18:15 | Another great day for Essenden, didn't make the top risers glenborthwick but steady days like today are much much better imv. | battlebus2

20/1/2014 08:27 | Moving strongly now :)) | battlebus2
19/1/2014 18:51 | lets see what this week brings | glennborthwick
18/1/2014 07:18 | Great little turnaround. I'm not sure what David and bb estimate but I make EBITDA of 5.5-6m for the full year based on half year EBITDA per site with a slight uplift following the trading statement. No interest payments this year. Eps should come in at 9-10 p putting it on a p/e of 5. Online booking which is increasing steadily further increases margins, like for like sales have reversed their decline and people are beginning to get money back in their pockets. This little company valued at £10m will be throwing off £3m in cash and rising every year. I like the sound of the management and would trust their 'transformational' judgement. Hard to buy any shares though. | drsmessguide |
