Thanks BB2 - quite hard to compare the companies but it would seem £1 is certainly not excessive

So for Harwood you could say it's a win/win/win :-o)

The rising share price may have also forced their hand, as you say spooky it's a win win and even if an offer doesn't materialise we still have a fab little company I'm more than happy to remain invested in.

Is there any chance that there move may be to smoke out another buyer, it looks like a win/win from their point of view.

I think Schroders with 20% will play a key role here and so I will have a quiet word on Monday. Christopher Mills is quite a tough dealmaker so I prefer a third party or trade buyer coming in to set a price. The share price reached £1 a year ago and trading conditions plus the business itself have actually much improved since then so very close to that would be needed to tempt me out and to suggest a reasonable price exit.

Shanks. To answer your question - no.

I reckon 100p/share would be a fair number for buyers and sellers - but my opinion ain't worth jack :)

Schroeders/Hargreave Hale will no doubt be pushing for a fair price.

£1 a share would be cheap compared to Electra's recent purchase in the sector, it would offer value to Harwood Capital and is probably a fair exit for shareholders, so that price definitely won't happen, someone always tries to be too clever.

Are Harwood Capital completely independent of the directors?

Just curious as this is not something I looked at before investing in ESS.

50 million shares at £1 each would be nice but maybe a valuation a little high for Harewood though they do already own a large percentage which helps.

Certainly know where you're coming from regards possible bid - likely to want it on the cheap.

Yes some strange timing of announcements yesterday, I missed BDI's results/strategic review RNS whilst looking at the eclipse with the family :-)

Well some of us bought at 65p a couple of weeks back and yesterday they wanted 75p so to me it was movement :))

Wonder if Schroders have kept accumulating to get over 20%! Always good to see big II stakes when there are "strategic options" being discussed. Makes it easier for a buyer to secure a majority of shares from a small number of IIs before publicly announcing an offer.

Bought some ESS for the first time. The results look more straightforward to me this time round. And hopefully they will be bought out some time in 2015.

Could be a good target for PE. Good cash flow. Assets to secure a debt funded deal. And as you said hard work is over, margins to improve from here on in.
