Not everyone in Barbados is as optimistic that the new taxes announced are the end of matter but rather the beginning. The Tourism sector which is a major part of the Bajan economy was and is the easy target and probably politically it's less damaging to be seen taxing tourists and profitable hotels rather then applying austerity to the domestic voters. Higher property taxes, water taxes and corporate tax rates can easily be increased in the not too distant futurehttps://barbadostoday.bb/2018/10/10/heed-the-imfs-warning/https://barbadostoday.bb/2018/10/02/no-new-taxes-for-now/

I have property and business interests in Barbados, as well as other islands. I'm holding. Each to their own.

I am not trying to create anything. Read exactly what ISS said not me.

And you seem to be intent on deflecting from the real issues and the actual facts and trying to attack me? Why is that? So Quid Prom Quo. Are you an employee trying to spin things? Or are you just another desperate AIM shareholder with an obvious vested interest in shouting down others who raise legitimate questions and only allow the shares being talked up so you can try and sell out at a profit at others expense? That mentallity did not work out too well for the Patisserie shareholders

I sold about 20 holdings since that statement LBO.

Whats the point of digging up a 7 month old article with Luke Johnson to tie in with the CAKE story if you are not trying to stir ;-) things.

LBO, you are trying to create some sort of contrived link between CAKE and EHG through Luke Johnson, that's pretty obvious. I don't know what your agenda is but (since you claim to be neither long nor short EHG) you clearly have some sort of personal and obsessive grudge against the company to be posting hundreds of negative inferences against them. I can't remember you saying one even mildly positive thing.

What are you - a former employee, a disgruntled holiday maker, or just a troll?

"Yeah looks very bad and warnings were sounded about Luke and Elegant Hotels too"

You are making out that Luke Johnson is complicit in some sort of financial wrong of which you have no knowledge.
The first article is 7 months old.Johnson is not the CFO of CAKE.The fact that they found the dicrepancy internally is telling.

Seems like you have a big chip on your shoulder with some of the rubbish you post.

Not all the taxes have kicked in yet so EHG choice of words in their trading update was quite clever. Also what we don't know is how much price discounting they are having to give and will need to give to try keep up Occupancy in the face of a weak GBP and the increased completion from Sandals.https://www.tax-news.com/news/Tax_Regime_Overhaul_Announced_In_Barbados____76835.htmlEffective July 1, 2018, the highest rate of corporation tax would rise from 25 percent to 30 percent.Effective October 1, 2018, a health service contribution will be introduced at a rate of 2.5 percent on incomes, with 1.5 percent payable by employers and one percent by employees.VAT on hotel accommodation will double to 15 percent from January 1, 2020, with a per night hotel room levy applying in the interim, which will range from USD2.50 to USD10 per night. In addition, a 2.5 percent product levy will be imposed on all direct tourism services. This will be collected by the providers of these services.A 10 percent tax on all sharing economy transactions, such as those provided by Airbnb, Homeaway, Expedia, and others, will be imposed from August 1, 2018.An airline travel and tourism development fee will be introduced from October 1, 2018. Passengers flying to destinations outside the Caribbean Community will pay USD70, while those flying to destinations within the Caribbean Community will pay USD35. This fee will be in addition to the departure tax.

https://briefedup.com/morning-brief-4-oct-2018/Trading Update For The 12 Months To End September 2018 – Not exactly upbeat and perhaps a mild profit warning (mention of no material impact (of tax changes), so some, perhaps).

Has the share price not been falling for months? And today's trading statement is still only in line with the previous 30% downgrade to forecasts. The bottom line results may well be a different story when the rising costs/taxes eventually take effect. Add in Brexit and further GBP weakness also near term and Zeus forecasts assumed a GBP:USD rate of 1.35 vs the current spot rate which is below that

Don't you just hate it when you've spent months running down a company and it's markets, only for them to then come out with an in line trading statement...

The tax does seem to be unduly targeting the main source of income. However since Mottley came into power she has hit the ground running with infrastructure development. The bus system overhaul was long overdue and the sewage issue on the south is being dealt with.
