Electrocomponents' share price came on the back of the decision to maintain the dividend for the next three years and an outline of the EBS (Enterprise Business Systems) investments, explained Dresdner. The theory, according to Dresdner, is that the dividend yield of 7% pays the investor to wait for the recovery coming through two years hence. Yet Dresdner believes this is still a long time to wait. In Dresdner's view, Electrocomponents now needs to demonstrate performance development, while maintaining underlying stability. However, the broker notes that economies are against the group in the medium term, while concerns over structural issues in the UK remain. The UK and Europe represent around 85% of group EBITA.

i find the tight spread makes this an enjoyable daytrade.

the dividends good value too. so i may hold it nearer the date. although there will probably be the usual compensatory drop in shareprice.

Over reaction here? Results expected to be only slightly below expectations. FD departure (at his age) nothing to be alarmed about. UK might be dismal but Asia trading well. At this price, looks to be pricing in a dividend cut, otherwise worth £3 per share.

well they actually look cheap p.e 7 --trouble is shares have now become a fallen angel and i wonder whether we may see further bombshells and they say things happen in three's --and this is only the first

A similar thing used to happen regularly with TATE. Not so much recently, but the price used to shoot up (or down) by 20p or more, stay there for a matter of a minute or so, and then return to where it was. Market makers giving "certain people" chance to deal at advantageous prices? What an outrageous suggestion!..... As you say, suspicious.

Looking through some charts noticed a spike in price in ecm on Friday 31st Dec. Decided to have a look as I thought if I was short this share I would have been suspicious if there was minimal trading at the high of the day. Looking at the action between 10.12am and 10.13am ( see below) I would have to conclude that someone is trying to move the price up for some reason. If I had been short using a cfd and had a buystop in just above the previous high at 314 then my position would have been closed, only to see the price drop down again immediately afterwards. Presumably I would have no reason to complain as the trades had gone through however I would be suspicious that something was going on.

Comments please as I suspect that there is more of this going on in fact I have had the experience myself of this on another share but did not take action as I concluded that that was the stockmarket for you. First impressions are something is not quite right here.
