04/11/2006 00:34 | hoggetwood - thanks for your informed comment(s); ELE is on my radar - unfortunately one swallow doesn't mmake a summer (or a ravving buy). I'm new into ELE and can sense the frustration/impatien Ciao | damofarl
01/9/2006 13:13 | '... a solid little company...' I Agree entirely. Very well run, good growth, both organicalluy and by acquisitions. But still very LITTLE. More judicious acquisitions (like the ones so far) are what's needed if we're to see our patience rewarded. I have to admit I'm often tempted to sell out and put the cash somewhere more exciting. | hoggetwood
31/8/2006 20:40 | Short positive article in Shares mag today just stating a number of facts from the recent results. The final comment was 'worth holding'. I have held these for several years now and remain positive. I thought the results were impressive and showed strong growth although accept a significant percentage of that growth was associated with acquisitions. There may be some drift in the share price before the finals but it still looks a solid little company in expanding areas (sport and education) which should receive a disproportionately high level of investment during the next few years. | edale
24/8/2006 08:08 | HoggetWood, I think you've hit the nail on the head. If Ele doesn't move now then my worry is that it will more likley fall in the lull between results. However, I became impatient with this share before and sold at the same price I had paid - 6.5p. Had to buy back in at 8.5p. So, a bit of patience might work wonders! | abundance99
22/8/2006 16:46 | Al Ging re the irrelevant (Endesa) headlines: ADVFN's reply to my emails is this: "We [k]no[w] about this problem and are forcing the news providers to correct it." I like the fighting talk of 'forcing'! mooreatupton (upon Severn?): Agree about the Wray query. What I don't like is that this is, I think, the first time in the last three years or so that the share price shows no sign of a significant rise on results. If not now, then WHEN – for the company is too small for anyone to bother ferreting out and disseminating info. outside the results season. Maybe I'm just being too impatient. And ELE does get an occasional puff from the Times (or Sunday Times?). | hoggetwood
21/8/2006 12:54 | I imagine that the good news is offset by the possibility that Nigel Wray might start unloading his shares. All depends on the real reason that he has resigned. | mooreatupton
21/8/2006 09:36 | Frustrating, isn't it? A nice set of results and a positive and upbeat chairman's report, and what do we get? Selling into a slightly higher bid price, and virtually no buying. I suppose the company is still very small, and off people's radar screens, while long term holders (like me) are fed up with the slow progress. | hoggetwood
14/8/2006 22:03 | Interims next Monday on 21st August. Pre close statement sounded positive so may get a boost to the share price with the results. | edale
08/8/2006 22:25 | Al Ging: I've submitted a problem report to advfn about the irrelevant news stories. The problem clearly arises because Endesa is NYSE:ELE. Whether the report will be acted upon is anyone's guess. | hoggetwood
08/8/2006 17:29 | ELE seems to have broken out of its pattern of gentle alternation between about 5p and 10p. Beginning to look as though we shan't see those 5,6,7ps again... New highs imminent? [About time, some would say...] | hoggetwood
31/7/2006 18:57 | Is there any way that we can stop those irrelevant news stories appearing on here? They are taking up all the space and mean that we can't now access old ELE news releases. | al ging
23/6/2006 08:22 | Thanks Ll, wasn't worried as I feel comfotable here at the moment. Just thought people should elaborate if they want to make that sort of comment | mooreatupton
22/6/2006 12:54 | I got back in at 8.5p. Happy to be in this for the medium term. | abundance99
22/6/2006 10:58 | Dont worry about breezo i know him from old. He loves talking the price down then gets in big time. Met him on IDN boards. The reason he's here is i mentioned ELE on the IDN board so we might have a few more visitors soon. | ll
20/6/2006 13:44 | Brezo, "Electric Word PLC, the specialist information publisher, predicted "good progress" in the current year as it said trading in the first half to March 31 was in line with internal expectations." so why do you think its a downward trend? | mooreatupton
20/6/2006 12:37 | this looks to me like a downward trend | breezo
17/5/2006 12:37 | I bought in when it was tipped at 8p so i cant see it going below that. I wouldnt have sold though unless it was up to 10p plus. In my experience i have always piled in more money when the markets have lurched downwards, and never been disapointed. | ll
16/5/2006 11:54 | I sold yesterday morning at 9.25p - guarding against a bigger lurch downwards in the market as a whole that would take Ele with it. There seems to be signs of stability returning and the chance to get back in with a 4% gain (taking costs into account). What do you reckon Ll? Is this as low as its going to get for the moment? | abundance99
16/5/2006 09:43 | Hold on a bit lower yet, then get in big time. | ll
10/5/2006 13:54 | no buy back again at 8p | ll
09/5/2006 08:01 | So, do we hold on and sell at 11p and then buy back again at 9p?? Ele seems to be following the usual pattern. | abundance99
28/4/2006 15:43 | Well well, expanding the business again then. Talk about a last minute announcement a few minutes before the bell : RNS Number:2246C Electric Word PLC 28 April 2006 28th April 2006 ELECTRIC WORD PLC Placing and Acquisition Electric Word plc, the specialist information publisher, announced today the acquisition of Incentive Plus Limited and Incentive Publishing Limited, for a total cash consideration of #2.05 million. Both businesses are closely affiliated to and supply the educational markets which Electric Word serves and for which it holds large databases. Incentive Plus (IP) is a leading educational mail order business providing practical materials in the areas of social, emotional and behaviour skills in children and young people - a market in which Electric Word holds an established position, publishing extensive materials for teachers. Incentive Publishing Limited is a smaller business with its own range of pupil motivational and behavioural materials that are marketed and distributed by Incentive Plus. IP's largest markets are in secondary and primary schools, but also include social services departments and other professional groups working with children. The combined businesses achieved adjusted audited pre-tax profits of #209k on a turnover of #2,400k in the year ended 31 December 2005 (unadjusted audited pre-tax profits were #306k, with directors' drawings of #97k. The audited net assets of the combined businesses were #309k at 31 December 2005). The consideration will be funded by a placing of 23,030,303 new ordinary shares in the Company at 8.25p per share, to raise #1.9m before expenses, plus bank debt. Application has been made for admission of the new ordinary shares to trading on AIM and dealings in the new ordinary shares issued under the placing are expected to commence on 5 May 2006. The combined acquisition is expected to have no significant impact on earnings in the current financial year. This latest acquisition by Electric Word follows the purchase of SportBusiness Group for #2.74 million in January, which has shown particularly encouraging progress within a larger specialist group. Commenting on the acquisition, Julian Turner, Chief Executive of Electric Word said: "The IP customer base and product offering map neatly onto several of Electric Word's 27 established education management subscription titles. We expect therefore to utilise our educational databases to the benefit of both IP businesses. We also have opportunities to apply Electric Word's e-marketing expertise to accelerate the shift to online sales, which currently account for just 11% of IP revenues, and to broaden the range of sectors that IP serves to cover other areas of Electric Word strength." Electric Word's trading this year continues to be in line with the Board's expectations. | ogeretla
28/4/2006 12:47 | Looks like a little bit of interest in this one today. Could it break 9.0p and continue up ? | ogeretla
22/4/2006 09:06 | Hello Hoggetwood, I do agree with you down one moment then report and back up again, I wish that I had got out on the last up-trend. | emergin
11/4/2006 10:00 | This is typical ELE share price behaviour. At present ELE has only a small following of investors. Price drifts downwards between statements or announcements. But these almost always contain encouraging news, and the share price spikes upward. ELE seems to me to be an extremely well run company which is slowly getting bigger and better. One to hold for the long term, or to trade from troughs to peaks, as these seem to be as predictable as you'll get for a share price. [I write just a long term holder (with occasional top-ups), and have no special knowledge.] | hoggetwood |
