Magro’s comments come after the company last month agreed to buy biologicals firm Stoller Group for $1.2 billion. In September, Corteva took over Spanish microbiological technologies firm Symborg. Deal making is heating up across the industry for alternative crop protection. Rival FMC Corp. agreed to acquire pheromone pioneer BioPhero ApS for about $200 million in June. The space is coming into the spotlight with farmers increasingly under pressure to adopt environmentally friendly practices.

Over the course of the next year Eden will run out of cash. This will be bad news for small shareholders with a highly discounted placement, delisting from AIM or pre packaged administration the likely solution

Eden has a strong existing partnership with Corteva with our ongoing collaboration around the development of seed treatments, and this Agreement marks the expansion of our relationship with the focus of this Agreement being to increase Eden's commercial presence in the all-important French grape and pome fruits markets.

"Corteva's vast presence in France will enable Eden to capitalise on the significant commercial opportunities that exist within this expansive market and has strong potential to increase Eden's product sales revenue. Coupled with our recently received EPA approval in the US, this Agreement highlights the global demand for sustainable biopesticides and the strides Eden is making to broaden its global footprint and accelerate commercial growth."

Clearly, there is much more coming from Eden's commercial relationship with Corteva that goes beyond this and the initial single seed partnership.

Each to their own, but in my opinion, Eden is de-risked.

CAP 2023-2027: EU approves Italy's Strategic Plan. Biocontrol on the front line

Italy's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan has been approved by the European Commission. The five-year plan, which will enter into force on 1 January 2023, is designed to boost the transition to a sustainable, resilient and modern European agricultural sector. From 2023 to 2027, farmers and rural areas of the country will be able to count on a total support of over 35 billion euros: 26.6 billion will come from the Union budget, 8.5 billion from the national budget.

During the next five years, the biocontrol sector will therefore be at the forefront for the implementation of specific interventions, aimed at introducing agroecological production methods.

In a note, the Commission underlines that Italy is one of the largest agricultural producers and food processors in the EU, with a very diversified agricultural sector. The Italian plan will introduce a maximum amount per hectare for farmers' basic income support.

Small and medium-sized farms will receive a redistributive payment to obtain fairer financial support. Around 800,000 farmers will also receive specific funding to participate in risk management tools to better address the growing impact of adverse weather events. As part of its environmental commitments, the Italian plan aims to increase the area cultivated organically up to 25% of the agricultural area.
