06/3/2023 12:08 | Supporting the view is another seasoned explorer who understands that Shell looks to have hit oil in "multiple horizons".Victoria Sibeya, Namcor's executive in charge of upstream exploration, said: "The encouraging results from the well are a geological testimony of the significant hydrocarbon potential in the deep-water play of the Orange basin."We look forward to the appraisal activities and our collaborative relationship with our joint venture partners and our shareholder, the government of Namibia, to fully assess the commerciality of this discovery".Namcor managing director Immanuel Mulunga, expressed "delight" in being able "to announce this third oil discovery after the success of the Graff-1x and Venus-1x discoveries by Shell and TotalEnergies in 2022"."This discovery has proven the exciting and world-class potential of the deep-water Orange basin," he said.Shell - headed by chief executive Wael Sawan - and QatarEnergy both have 45% stakes in Block 2913A and adjacent 2914B, with Namcor on 10%. | thenorseman2
06/3/2023 12:08 | The semisub is now on location at Graff-1x, according to marine intelligence provider VesselsValue, and is expected to re-enter this well to carry out a drill stem test.Located about 270 kilometres offshore, Jonker-1x is the third successful exploration well drilled on the block by Shell in the last year, within a 100% success rate. One exploration hand told Upstream last week that Jonker-1x "came in big" in the main Cretaceous-age target, following on from an earlier Upstream exclusive that a shallower oil pay was also intercepted in late January.Shell's main objective was a Middle Cretaceous reservoir of Albian age - the same reservoir that was so successful at TotalEnergies' Venus-1x discovery, just across the border in block 2913A - instead of the Upper Cretaceous discoveries made at Graff and La Rona. | thenorseman2
06/3/2023 12:07 | Cont'd:One knowledgeable source said the exploration fraternity is abuzz with talk that the Jonker prospect could house "over 1 billion barrels of recoverable oil".Another seasoned explorer said this estimate was utterly reasonable: "This is entirely possible."The Jonker-1x probe hit light oil, with Upstream told it is huge find, better than the supermajor's previous discoveries in same block"The acquired data is currently being evaluated and further appraisal drilling is planned to determine the size and recoverable resources potential of the discovery," said Namcor.Odfjell's semi-submersible rig Deepsea Bollsta drilled the exploration well to a total depth of 6168 metres in a water depth of 2210 metres. | thenorseman2
06/3/2023 12:05 | Upstreamonline just now:Shell has made a barnstorming offshore oil discovery in Namibia's prolific Orange basin that looks to be far bigger than its two earlier oil finds in probably the world's top exploration play.QatarEnergy and state-owned Namcor, Shell's partners, today confirmed Upstream's recent exclusive that the Jonker-1x probe had hit light oil in Block 2913A, but did not go into detail. However, informed sources told Upstream that the Jonker discovery is jumbo-sized, fully justifying Shell's decision to focus on a new geological play in the block as opposed to going back to drilling in the area of last year's Graff-1x and La Rona-1x discoveries. | thenorseman2
06/3/2023 09:35 | Laz - FYI - Shell's rig has moved 6nm East of the Jonker-1X well. | jamesiebabie

06/3/2023 09:27 | Jamesiebabie5 Mar '23 - 20:21 - 2724 of 2726 0 2 0 The Tungsten Explorer is on location to drill the next Venus well; it is c.39nm West of Shell's well being drilled by the Deepsea Bollsta. JB, '39nm'...that's pretty damn close, not sure they could fit another rig on site?! | lazarus2010

05/3/2023 15:44 | As part of Woodside farm in deal the 5000 sq km 3D survey that Woodside is going to pay $35 million for is only half the 10000 sq km acreage we already HAVE GOT 3D (processed and now reprocessed) on Block 3B/4B!! | thenorseman2
04/3/2023 12:09 | Reservoir of Albian age same as Venus AND OUR 1.919 BILION (Best estimate) SF-1-A PROSPECT in 3B/4/B. Thats what I understand anyway.-----One exploration hand told Upstream that Jonker-1 "came in big" in the main Cretaceous target, which suggests that Shell has made a significant oil discovery close to the western limits of Block 2913A.Another source familiar with southern Africa said Shell's main objective was a Middle Cretaceous reservoir of Albian age - the same reservoir that has proven so successful at Venus - instead of the Upper Cretaceous discoveries made at Graff and La Rona.A third source remarked that Shell could announce the discovery early next week, perhaps on Monday. | thenorseman2
03/3/2023 16:53 | Yes, the Fidelity stake is significant, presumably interest in 3B/4B. | mick
03/3/2023 16:12 | We have a big institutional buyer ...Fidelity...take 5% on market...fantastic | here and there

01/3/2023 18:50 | From Africa Oil's q&a yesterday. "Three good questions. I think our strong preference is to have a partner, a super major come in and the operating partner in the 3B/4B and pay for at least one well if not two and possibly some cash upfront. So that's what we're working towards that goal. We are -- we've had discussions with several companies, and we continue to be in discussions with those companies. If we can't do that, then we will probably test the market and see if there's a way that we can finance it ourselves because we really like the prospects we've got -- the nice thing that came with 3B/4B is a full 3D survey that's never drilled upon. So we've reprocessed it, and it's very good quality data and we have several high-quality drillable prospects..." So I'm fairly confident we and the partnership, we'll be able to find a partner to come in and do that. But if we can't, then I think we will have a good go at trying to drill it ourselves." | dat_51
01/3/2023 17:42 | so Block 3B/4B CPR to be published in March !!! | thenorseman2
01/3/2023 17:41 | Copied from transcript posted by Pol123 below | thenorseman2
01/3/2023 17:39 | So that's what we want in 3B/4B. I think for bringing in a partner, I think it's a useful thing to have an ESIA done. We've got a CPR competent person's report being done, should be done in March, for sure, and we will publish the results of that. So I think again, we really like this block. I think we picked it up at an opportune time before the basin got half. And I think -- our goal will be to firm it up. But if we can't, we may look to try to fund it ourselves.» | thenorseman2
01/3/2023 16:52 | There is a Q&A transcript. reading that looks like AO are looking for production assets not exploration plays. ECO stake could be sold..! | pol123 |
