11/8/2022 11:05 | What French consumers pay on subsidised retail is irrelevant to the economics for DRX. What matters is wholesale prices in the EU which will remain escalated as long as gas is escalated. The UK has been exporting power on interconnectors over the last few months (normal in summer), and will probably carry on doing so in winter (which is unusual). This is constructive for DRX in the short-term. | viscount1
11/8/2022 10:55 | "France pays nothing like our consumers do" Probably because the French use mostly Nuclear power, and much of UK power generation is owned by French or Germans who obviously charge British customers more so they can subsidise their own nationals back home. We should never have let foreign nations own our Utilities. Privatise them sure, get them more efficient sure, but hold a golden ticket to prevent foreign countries buying up our lifesblood. | geckotheglorious
11/8/2022 10:52 | viscount You say in the EU? Are governments putting a ceiling on the cap there? France pays nothing like our consumers do. | castleford tiger
11/8/2022 10:51 | DRAX Pellets are green when used in America. Mistaken comments by minister when clarified DRAX will be above 900 plus. So topping up at these levels…DRAX is critical for getting Inflation under control. Can move up quickly so get ready | halfpenny
11/8/2022 10:21 | And Kwarteng would be correct. If this is what he said. There is no way shipping wood pellets across the Atlantic from USA to UK, then burning them is eco friendly. Not a chance. This push for "Net Zero" has to stop. We are impoverishing ourselves all the while China builds one new coal power station a week! UK's impact on environment is tiny. A rounding error. | geckotheglorious
11/8/2022 09:29 | Today's fall seems driven by a minister's comments about biomass being unsustainable: This was always a risk for DRX, but hard to see how it changes the demand on them in the short and medium term given high gas prices forcing high electricity prices in the UK and EU. | viscount1
11/8/2022 09:23 | NO REASON FOR THE FALL. As I see it...........Governm | castleford tiger
11/8/2022 08:44 | cant understand reason for fall, goverment already said no extra tax for electricity producers, drax will be a major part of keeping the lights on, i guess no big special dividends will be allowed by companies and profits to be invested, what we are not being told is halve of all french nuclear power stations are offline for repairs which is causing this energy crises. | rolo7
11/8/2022 08:25 | INSP shares jump imminent | zxie
11/8/2022 08:20 | DRAX to fall below 700 as Government comments which need to be confirmed. | halfpenny
08/8/2022 16:38 | Oh dreary me clarisbenedict is back. | geckotheglorious

03/8/2022 18:53 | Yep if we get no power from the French which now looks certain over the winter supply Willbe tight here | rolo7
03/8/2022 11:22 | Rolo7 I think it is going to be worse than most people expect, but not as bad as I fear. No energy = no economy. No economy equals severe hardship. The clue will be Germany for whom little to no power is a bleak prospect this winter. | geckotheglorious
02/8/2022 22:17 | Geck Since covid people ways of live have changed more people working from home. I cant see so much of a sudden demand on the grid between 4:30-7pm, less people arriving home at same time, shower, oven/cooker on etc, those stuggling with bills saving also pre payment meter 4million customers do they have 300-500£ for the month of january they are going to be most careful over useage. | rolo7
02/8/2022 19:51 | Castle "I missed a flight last week because a woman was on a gantry on the m25. It took 9 hours to get her down and cost millions" Xbow -I'd have had her down in 5minutes We are too lenient on such people. | geckotheglorious
02/8/2022 19:50 | Castle Yes am aware of such buy why has it taken so long? I blame consecutive govts since Major for the kicking of the can down the road... we've had ample opportunity, and numerous warnings to push for fraccing, energy storage and alternative power generation (that is reliable) All such warnings have been ignored. | geckotheglorious
02/8/2022 16:49 | geck There are hundreds of planning applications in for battery storage right now. Getting them passed is another matter. Green energy needed to be stored and released when required. Its coming but its slow. I missed a flight last week because a woman was on a gantry on the m25. It took 9 hours to get her down and cost millions. expect nothing too quick tiger | castleford tiger
02/8/2022 13:51 | Rolo7 I don't watch the BBC or subscribe to any of its services online. Are you sceptical about the blackouts/power rationing being bandied about? | geckotheglorious
02/8/2022 13:47 | Castle. Why don't we have any storage? Surely history has shown that having such would be a good idea! We have been governed by idiots since the Major era. Energy policy has been consistently kicked down the road. Well we are out of road and the impending crisis should result in all those responsible paying the piper imo. | geckotheglorious
02/8/2022 13:14 | rolo The government have asked DRAX to keep the 2 coal units to come in if demand is high. I think we will be very tight. tiger | castleford tiger |
