I don’t always agree with articles on this site, but in this case it’s a decent summary ....

Musical chairs on the Holdings front. Good to see Schroders increasing their position.

The barrage story and more is available on the newsnow aggregator. It would be handy to have this link in the header to see regular news updates on the company.

Yes cheers Paulo, I agree but 130p earlier this year wasn't anything specific to Drax either.

I suppose the worst that can happen is we all get a buy opportunity.

Most stocks are down today Nick - more Covid lockdown fears etc kicking in, I don’t believe it’s anything specific re Drax as far as I’m aware but instead a general dip across the board

Are we going sub 200p again, was it 130P!!? That was a wierd over reaction and hopefully won't happen again, but I suppose anything can happen when fear kicks in.

Paulo

I was of course talking hypothetically

Just 4.2% capital growth gives you 10% net.

this year I am 110% up

Castleford, capital growth is important to me as much as a dividend payment so I wouldn’t always agree with the approach you suggest. Whilst obviously the yield improves as the price takes a dip, it’s the underlying capital growth I am after - dividends alone won’t cover me if the price falls too significantly. Not that it is in this case, I have the benefit of both growth and good yield from my entry price. To answer your question, I have Airtel Africa in my portfolio - which yields around 8% at the moment - just one example. Also, don’t forget, attractive dividends can also reflect a higher degree of risk.

with 17p dividend to come even after paying 300p a share its 5.8%

can someone tell me where that return is possible.

7000 shares in an ISA returns 1190 in profit tax free a year.

What happens to the share price does not matter.

Any dips you just add.

:) The price has held up remarkably well given the fact it went XD and the state of the markets generally. Strategy now is to sit tight during the turbulent autumn months and perhaps add further at the end of the year.

Lol wasn’t meaning u boozey, or the board, meant the market in general. Nice divi coming anyway for us while we wait on share price rise!

Looks like the dividend milkers have been in ...and now that it’s gone ex divi today we see them ditch the stock and ride off. Par for the course!

Yes, very good point Boozey - law of averages means it’s likely a better bet attributing more weight to the CFO moves ie who are traditionally the more frugal number crunchers!
Re drax I’m particularly wanting to see how their model is panning out. Some old generating stations purchased from Iberdrola need put to good use and ditch the coal - which is where they are seemingly heading, positive. I’ve not been monitoring too closely my holding in these guys other than the share price due to other distractions in my portfolio so need to catch up! Not fully convinced with Biomass but the approach is obviously better than coal and emissions being negated which seems ok with the politicians so far. Renewable storage is key here and how much they can accommodate since lockdown has meant record lows in demand / over supply to the grid.

Paulo, I agree with your sentiments. I also attribute more emphasis to a Director Buy by a CFO as they tend to be by nature more cautious executives. Anyway let's see how it goes next week in advance of XD.

The fleas on this dog seem to be keeping everyone away - mores the pity Paulo.

Still, one lives in hope.

At least I didn't blow a load of wedge here like Woodford.
