"The Board is pleased to announce that the Company has made good progress in its first few months in the implementation of the business plan. The first store in Warsaw is near to completion and on target for opening at the end of February 2011, with a number of other store leases signed up or in advanced stages of lease negotiation. DP Polska S.A., the Company's wholly owned subsidiary through which the master franchise will be operated, has secured a number of high calibre personnel to join the team in Poland, including appointments in marketing, operations and HR. The first eight store managers have been hired ready for training in the US in the New Year."

Patrick Doyle is current CEO of Domino's Pizza Inc. He says in an interview in the latter part of January:

"Recently, Domino's has successfully launched locations in Germany, Romania, Ukraine, and Vietnam. "I think the next country is Poland, and that will probably happen in the first quarter of 2011," Doyle revealed."

You might, or might not, wish to listen to what he has to say but a snippet:

"Domino's celebrated its 50th birthday recently, and you got to ring the closing bell on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. What was that like?

Patrick Doyle: It's very cool. It's a real honor. I couldn't have been happier to do that. But I have to say that the bigger honor is getting to lead this organization. There have only been three CEOs in the 50-year history of Domino's, and I'm the third. So I'm honored that I've been entrusted with this brand that's become such a great part of the U.S. and increasingly around the world."

The Business Model worked in the US where there is no shortage of competion and in even in UK where arguably more folks are conscious of what they eat! If Poles have the internet and TV advertising is correctly targeted this has to be a winner doesn't it? What am I missing?

good. this is a gamble but with all the poles returning home from working in the uk the reputation of domino in the uk will spread fast as the new branches open. as long as they provide good quality at good value with good promotions they should do well. not a share for widows though.

I'm just trying to figure this one will work in Poland using simple reasoning. We Poles eat damn a lot. KFC is a great success there as well as the pizza hut. But I must say there is sooooo many small independent pizza places there, Dominos will have to work real hard to pull this off. It's too early for me to buy. New additions are too risky for me. I'd like to see some balance sheets first. Will keep an eye on this one though.

yes, but more press releases (international expansion from US listed Dominos pizzas, see posts 22 & 23) makes DPP easier to follow IMO

gbr may be having equal success in Switzerland, but the information is irregular.

I hold some gbr and dpp.

(long article, 1 day old) about Domino Pizzas (USA), where they have 5000 outlets:

ends with strategy footnote for the rest of 2010:

Although the company will soon end the heavy marketing of the new pizza, 2010 certainly won't represent the final act in the company's transition.

"There are more chapters in the story that we haven't told yet-I just obviously can't tell you about them," Weiner says. "But there's more to tell in this story."

Companies often lock in prices to protect themselves from wild swings in commodity prices. Domino's Pizza has locked in its wheat purchases through the first quarter of 2011.

"There'll be another harvest between now and when we need to go back out and buy wheat again," Mr. Doyle said. "We're effectively insulated there."

In February, Domino's chief executive said he believed that DP Poland Plc could grow with the Polish economy and double its number of stores in the 10 biggest foreign markets.

According to Marek Belka, the president of the National Bank of Poland, the country's economy is forecast to grow around three percent in 2010 and over 3.5 percent in 2011.

Poland's pizza lovers will soon be able to enjoy a slice of Domino's. The local master franchise for Domino's Pizza floated on AIM today, with plans to open at least 27 stores in Warsaw by the end of 2012. DP Poland's shares climbed to 56p, from a float price of 50p.
