Did everyone see this last week:http://www.cnbc.com/2016/05/17/goldman-sachs-just-did-a-u-turn-on-this-10t-opportunity.htmlMy senior contact at Goldman's NYC is keen to start building a position in DJI once it's on NASDAQ in a few months time - this should give it a big boost at the levels they trade at!

Rafa, ANYONE with a spreadbetting account can short stocks. Don't be mislead into thinking squires post is accurate as it is NOT.
Certain posters on here will post negative or fearmongering posts to either prevent you from buying a bargain or encourage you to sell.
NEVER judge a man by the language he uses, a man who swears a lot can often be more honest than a silk tongued snake.

Bscuit - I used trades within the account a number of times in the good old days and did very well. I especially remember trades in Wace and Hanson.

I occasionally T trade with equal success where I have funds tied up. If one does use a T trade, it is not sensible to close the trade at the last moment because you can lose control and are at the mercy of the market.

T trading reminds me of the former 2 week account periods where one could transact at the beginning of the account period exit with a profit or loss without ever having to deliver. Many years ago I sold a large [for me] holding in a FT30 share at its all-time high and watched it going up for the next 5 days before it fell back and I was able to buy back for a small profit. Never did that again! Sweated blood.

Indeed but with a short trade there is a fundamental difference, you loss can be unlimited. With a long trade your loss can only be all of your investment because when the share price falls to zero it can go no lower. With a short trade it can simply keep going up.

Brokers therefore will not easily let anyone 'short' shares and the vast majority of people on these boards who claim to do it, would not be allowed to. Simple as that. Mainstream brokers would only allow it on a few selected shares and then for sophisticated clients only.

Glad you will remember my warning, so many of the posters are utterly rotten, just read the unpleasant and crass stuff they write and you will spot them. For many their sense of decency is so low, or non-existent, they feel perfectly at ease posting swear words and completely unnecessary personal bile publicly. But you still cannot trust the others....Do Your Own Research is the key.

Thx squire for your explanation of T trade, which is borrow money for buy. I think there is another kind of T short trade, they sell shares they don't have (sp is high), then buy back at share price low.

I will remember your warning as I could not loss money.

T trading is borrowing money to trade. You ask to extend your settlement date up to 20 trading days ahead. It is used by gamblers to gain additional shares they cannot really afford. The problem is that the market makers know exactly who is doing this and exactly when they have to sell.

the market makers then drop the prices on these T Traders in the run up to settlement day KNOWING that the shares either have to be sold....or are rolled over, ie are asked for permission to extend for another period of time. This is granted at the discretion of the market makers and costs a small additional commission.

It is worthy of note that on highly volatile shares such as this one, a lot of traders come in hoping to get a profit out within the ~T time of their trade, be it 10 days or 15 or more. These guys then get so desperate as time gets closer to their settlement date that they try as hard as they can to get others to come in and buy to get the price to move in their favour so they can sell.

Be very very very careful on these bulletin boards, if you are a novice the traders will really try hard to manipulate your decisions. Never let ANY...THAT IS... ANY...comment from these boards decide your buy or sell order for you....that would be fatal.

I have been made aware of a seller of 500,000 shares. This is what has dragged the price back so far. Once this had cleared through there should be a strong rebound

the chart looking good, if it's anything to go by, will be continuing the trend upwards.

Appears to be a seller in the background as, apart from that early 100k, almost all reported transactions seem to be buys yet share price not really responding.

A T trade is normally where a buyer buys shares with a settlement date beyond the normal two days. One can close the trade before the end of the period. Therefore whereas a normal trade settles within two TRADING days, a T10 would have to settle after 10 TRADING days. Thanks for your TA information and chart (always a welcome guide).
