15/11/2019 08:46 | Screamer leg north | nobilis
14/11/2019 17:50 | Crikey I'm long too and have 70 positions running across UK and US markets - too busy to be debating with you your opinions on brokers lol. Good luck ! | davr0s
14/11/2019 17:47 | However good or otherwise brokers' notes, one of the plus points is that where there is a forecast it places an obligation on a board to report any significant deviation (up or down) from those forecasts that it becomes aware of. They don't like to do that so when presenting to analysts there is a skill in subtle non-overt guidance which you can sometimes pick up if the presentation is webcast. I recently took the opportunity to exit a small company where there were no forecasts and the board's communication with shareholders was set at the minimum it could get away with. Despite a low historic p/e and decent yield I felt that I was investing blind. | sharw
14/11/2019 16:21 | Wow breaking out ahead of results | abarclay
14/11/2019 15:39 | Exactly - as I already posted, I'm saying make up your own mind about forecasts, valuations etc. But you said "Broker notes are not worth the paper they are written on", which is a very different statement. The research and depth of info about companies make such notes extremely worthwhile imo. Meanwhile, DSCV continues to do rather well... | rivaldo
14/11/2019 13:53 | I'm not asking you to agree or disagree - I'm just telling you that broker forecasts have been analysed and shown to be statistically worse than noise. If it helps you then fine but to me they are useless as a chocolate teapot | davr0s
14/11/2019 13:14 | Big move up | nw99
14/11/2019 11:17 | I couldn't disagree more. The analyst will usually have met the company, spoken in more detail to management than any PI could, been taken around the facilities etc.... Obviously one should come to one's own conclusions about target prices, buying, holding or selling etc. But the detail within the research is usually very helpful. It seems completely self-defeating to sweepingly dismiss detailed research which is often 10 to 30 pages long containing so much info which would otherwise take aeons or might be impossible to gather for oneself, just because the final verdict may or may not be accurate over time. | rivaldo
14/11/2019 10:49 | Broker notes are not worth the paper they are written on. Historical analysis show them to be accurate 48% of the time ie more wrong than right lol. I am long here and completely screen this kind of stuff of data out for this very reason as it's of no use and just introduces bias into your thinking | davr0s
14/11/2019 10:00 | Tole, there are plenty of broker notes available for free on DSCV. Edison's notes for example, or Finn Cap's which are free if you register on their web site. I've featured all of them in my posts here on this thread. | rivaldo
12/11/2019 19:10 | You need to get out more often | davr0s
12/11/2019 15:53 | A dream chart developing | onjohn
12/11/2019 15:45 | Anybody have any recent broker notes on this one.. would be interested in having a read. Looks interesting. Thanks | tole
11/11/2019 09:47 | Have bought into this today | montynj
11/11/2019 09:08 | Yes obviously I am last to the party but story is compelling | nw99
11/11/2019 08:59 | More new highs. Welcome nw99. Great to see DSCV attracting wider and well-deserved attention. The company's terrific performance in the current market highlights its exposure to faster-growing and more secure markets, and its transformation from distributor to producer of designed-in, bespoke and necessary products. | rivaldo
11/11/2019 08:10 | Bought here | nw99
06/11/2019 22:06 | Terrific close - with a final buy trade at 520p..... | rivaldo
06/11/2019 18:47 | Blimey....Just noticed! I wonder why that happened? | eggbaconandbubble
06/11/2019 12:42 | Looking at new highs again. DSCV is far too big to be affected materially by an IC buy tip (and the IC will get some right and some wrong, that's just the nature of things) - plus the IC has less influence and followers anyway these days. It's simply good to see the company attracting more attention as it's largely been beneath the radar - the wider the investment community that knows about it the better. | rivaldo
06/11/2019 12:39 | Buying any of these share tip rags just clouds the issues. I've given them up. In fact I should also give up bulletin boards as well. :-) | eggbaconandbubble
05/11/2019 20:16 | Oh I'm very confident in my approach as I've been validating it for several years - but I know that IC tips have a horrible expectancy and tend to attract a lot of hot money creating volatility (they tipped MTC lol and also Nano that has since lost 90% and is now up for sale to name just two in the news today). Maybe this one can be an exception. Anyhow I know where I'm wrong here so will exit if it falls there. Just another trade in my approach | davr0s
05/11/2019 20:07 | Come on Davros - think 'glass half full'! | eggbaconandbubble
05/11/2019 19:07 | Yeah I hold and it needs an IC tip like a hole in the head. Will attract a lot of hot money which will exit at the first sign of weakness | davr0s
