        Appointment of Dr Roger Summit, founder of the online industry,
                             as Chairman Emeritus

The  Dialog  Corporation  plc, the online business  information  group  formed
recently  by  the  merger  of  M.A.I.D plc and Knight-Ridder  Information  Inc
(KRII),  is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Roger Summit as Chairman
Emeritus, and as a Director of the  Company's  North American operations.

Dr  Summit  founded the online industry whilst at the Lockheed Corporation  in
the  1960's  with  the creation of Dialog, the first major online  information
retrieval  system of its kind.  Dialog, was the first system to  leverage  the
emergence  of  third  generation computers, which  enabled  interactivity  and
connectivity through telephone lines.

Dialog  was the premier service of KRII from which the new combined group  has
taken  its  name  and  is  today recognised amongst information  professionals
worldwide as the best known product of its kind in the market.

Dr  Summit was designer and project manager for Dialog during its early  years
and continued in various executive capacities, first within Lockheed and later
within  KRII,  where he was President and Chief Executive  Officer  of  Dialog
Information Services Inc. until his retirement in 1992.

Dr  Summit  has  received honours and held various positions  in  professional
associations and on advisory boards such as the American Association  for  the
Advancement  of  Science  (AAAS), the Special  Library  Association,  and  the
Institute of Information Scientists, amongst others.
                                                                     
He   serves  on  the  Boards  of  several  companies,  and  non-profit  making
organisations  such  as  the Los Altos Library Commission  and  the  Community
School  of Music and Arts.  He has a BA in Psychology, and an MBA and  PhD  in
Management Science, from Stanford University.
