                                 BOARD CHANGES



Dairy Crest, the UK's leading chilled dairy foods company, announces the
appointment of Peter Thornton to the Board as an Executive Managing Director,
with effect from April 1st 2003.



Peter Thornton has been Managing Director of Dairy Crest's Spreads business
since September 2000, during which time Dairy Crest's market leading brand
Clover has shown strong growth. Peter joined Dairy Crest in March 1993 and has
had extensive commercial experience with the company, including three years as
Group Sales Director.



At the same time, Chris Roberts, Executive Managing Director since joining Dairy
Crest following the acquisition of the Unigate dairy and cheese businesses in
July 2000, will stand down from the Board, before leaving the company on May
16th 2003 to pursue other interests outside of the dairy industry.



Simon Oliver, Chairman, said, "I am delighted to welcome Peter to the Board.
Peter will oversee both our Spreads and Liquid products businesses, alongside
Mark Allen, appointed to the Board last July, who will add our Household
business to his current responsibility for the Cheese business.



With the recent completion of the Severnside project, the acquisition has now
been fully integrated. As a result, Chris, who has worked in the dairy industry
for over 25 years, has decided that now is the right time to pursue other
interests. We would like to thank him for his considerable contribution to Dairy
Crest over the last three years and wish him well for the future."



Peter Thornton has not held any directorships of any other publicly quoted
company in the previous five years, nor does he hold any currently. There is no
further information to be disclosed under paragraphs 6.F.2 (b) to (g) of the
Listing Rules.
