Date: 24th January 2025
 Time: 1:00 PM
 Format: Online Webinar

Saba Capital, a US hedge fund, has recently called for general meetings at seven investment trusts:
Baillie Gifford US Growth Trust (USA), Edinburgh Worldwide (EWI), Keystone Positive Change (KPC), Henderson Opportunities Trust (HOT), European Smaller Companies Trust (ESCT), CQS Natural Resources Growth & Income (CYN), Herald Investment Trust (HRI).

Unless other shareholders vote at these general meetings, Saba’s resolutions will pass, enabling Saba to take control of these trusts.

In this webinar, an expert panel, including Ros Altmann, James Carthew, and Richard Stone, will explore the implications of these developments, focusing on the broader issues surrounding shareholder democracy. Additionally, there will be a concise presentation on how shareholders, particularly those holding shares via brokers or platforms, can ensure their voting rights are effectively exercised.

I agree with that CYN is in all the right places, but the discount offers no value right now. That can either be fixed by a rise in NAV or decline in the buy price., let's see which way it goes.

I'd love to buy back into this one at the right level.

6 month CYN candlestick chart. I've only got one share and that's GPM. I expect GPM & CYN to do well next year. These 2 CYN charts don't imply that CYN will go back to 160p in the short term. In fact they imply that the CYN so will rebound to over £2 again in the short term. Though these chart indicators could be wrong.

Buy gcl and gpm combined will almost replicate cyn, but at much cheaper price, and without paying stamp duty. All managed by the same managers.

Agreed. I already have enough in GPM but I sold a lot of these. Got burnt before holding CYN as the discount narrowed.

Re: Interesting You Tube video posted on LSE giving 5 minute pitch on CYN. Been thinking of taking profit here but will probably hang on for a while as still around a 15% discount to NAV. Interested in other long term holders views.

I upped my position some weeks ago, and of course could almost hit myself from not buying even more of a position. CYN is surely in a sweet spot, while giving you the advantages of managing your risk for you across the range of commodities. There are not that many like it in ITs - BERI, maybe, but this has the larger discount. Can't of course advise beyond that!
