Liberum: We expect H1 to show further margin progress.
It would have been a disaster otherwise...but good to know. |

Money moved to APH [Alliance Pharma] |
Was it definitely a sell? I guess so, as if someone had been trying to buy then the price would've gone up far more? Therefore, by extension we should see a solid increase uowards if the seller has gone. Would that be 4.5m shares in one trade, or actioned over a period but reported as a block? Lots of questions, but anyone with better knowledge than me please chip in.Fundamentals very strong here. I can't see why anyone would sell. My guess is its a forced seller and we swiftly move up to 95p. |
--->PINEMARTIN9
It's possible we had a large seller which depressed the pricing action.
That earlier large trade may have signalled the final sale for now.
Hence the increase in price shortly after that.
But that's just a theory.

Indeed....what do we think? |
Very high volume today. |
Costain secures new AMP8 Framework Agreement with United Utilities
New contract expands Costain's positions with leading water companies
Costain Group PLC ("Costain") announces that it has been selected by United Utilities PLC ("United Utilities") as one of seven partners that will deliver its new strategic investment programme.
This new programme, which expands the relationship between Costain and United Utilities, is expected to see the seven partners deliver £3bn of projects during the 2025-2030 Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) period. The agreement also offers the potential for a further five-year extension (2030-2035).
Costain will work with United Utilities and its partners to form an integrated enterprise delivery organisation to deliver upgrades to United Utilities' complex infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets, including water and wastewater treatment sites, pumping stations and reservoirs. Costain's services will include design, construction and asset optimisation services.
As part of this strategic framework, Costain will actively engage and build strong relationships with United Utilities and other supply chain partners, to help United Utilities deliver services in an environmentally sustainable, economically beneficial, and socially responsible manner to create sustainable long-term value for all.
This contract builds on United Utilities extending its Managed Service Provider contract with Costain for AMP8 which was announced last year.
Alex Vaughan, CEO, Costain, said:
"We're delighted that this new contract win extends our relationship with United Utilities and that we can bring our leading strategic expertise to support upgrades of its critical infrastructure. This announcement builds on our growing positions with the leading water companies as they prepare for the vital AMP8 investment period.
"This appointment demonstrates our strong track record for delivering pioneering solutions, the strength of our leading water expertise, as well as our successful reputation for working in effective collaborative enterprises. It also builds on our existing Managed Services Framework with United Utilities, now in its sixth year of operation. Together, we will safeguard the supply of water and deliver committed environmental improvements.
"In addition, this work will be transformative for the local economy, increasing prosperity, creating jobs, and developing skills across the region. It also reinforces our commitment to improving infrastructure in the North-West of England, where we're already working to upgrade the region's transportation and energy networks, generating opportunities for the local supply chain and driving growth." |
I like this bit: This new programme, which expands the relationship between Costain and United Utilities, is expected to see the seven partners deliver £3bn of projects during the 2025-2030 Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) period. The agreement also offers the potential for a further five-year extension (2030-2035). |
Sorry can't post sent to me on secure link as a deferred pensioner so can't publish it. When I hear the 2024 figure will let people know. As said previously it is a massive accounting anomaly as on statutory accounts the pension scheme is a big asset when in fact it is on deficit. So I always ignore this when looking at balance sheet along with Goodwill both really worthless at present. |

Alex getting amongst it.... |
TH construction was sold to a Norwegian company I believe,so perhaps TH Pensions is the last surviving remnant of what was a major group with fingers in many industries. |
Chris, Any chance you can post the link to the information on the pension? Many thanks.
By the way, even if the pension deficit has remained the same, the investment case is no less solid. It is strangely priced as if it was due for liquidation: value of the cash + a small % for the order book. |
Yes this is completely different to Trafalgar House Construction Company that i think went bust years ago. This Trafalgar House Group manages pensions that have been outsourced by Companies. |
Thanks Chris, I thought that the whole TH group had been taken over in the 90s, when I was involved with them on a project where I found the most incredible incompetence I've ever seen. Hope their true expertise lies in pension management! |
