16/2/2007 08:28 | Firm breakout now. I wouldn't like to have been one of Galvin's clients if he recommended shorting!!!!! LONDON (AFX) - Compass Group PLC, the world's largest catering group, said trading in the first four months of the year has been "encouraging" and is "marginally ahead of expectations. In a statement ahead of today's AGM, the group said the process of selling its European vending business, Selecta, is "well underway and has generated significant interest". As previously stated, it expects to complete the transaction by Summer 2007. Compass will publish its interim results on May 16, with a pre-close trading update due on March 29. The group also announced that Sir James Crosby and Tim Parker will join the board as non-executive directors from Feb 17. Crosby is the former CEO of HBOS PLC and is currently a non-executive director of ITV PLC and the Financial Services Authority. He will be the senior independent director and chairman of the remuneration committee. Parker is currently chief executive of the AA and a non-executive director of Alliance Boots PLC. | gulliverr

13/2/2007 17:03 | Any idea when the dividend will be paid as i think its now gone ex div. Would like to think that there will be more of an upside afterteh AGM next week. | mrthomas
08/2/2007 19:56 | Galvan and others of the same type are very short term traders generally whereas I'm in for the long term so I don't worry too much about them. I bought a few more yesterday, and even thoughs its dropped a bit today I'm not concerned. The share price has a tendency to drop to or just below the 50 day SMA and then recover pretty quickly. There's an AGM next week so there may be some news. The last report was quite low key so I don't see a lot of downside as expectations haven't been pumped up. All my own opinion of course. | reeshar

17/1/2007 11:53 | Astol, if you needed to sell all your CPG you must have had a large need for cover ... CPG is still a case of "hold and it goes up" for me, which is good given that so many of my oil/miners are "hold and it goes down". | gorse
17/1/2007 10:24 | Good luck all holders, sold yest at 304p only to see big jump today, trouble was that I needed to sell to cover a mining stock which is down so made a profit. Frustrating as could have held for a few more days on Compass. Have you guys been there sell it goes up hold and it goes down. | astol
13/1/2007 22:01 | Astol, I agree that CPG has now turned the corner. I had been watching it for some time and bought in a couple of months ago. I have not been disappointed so far, and IMHO the share price will continue to head northwards over the next few months. | beechtree

12/1/2007 11:50 | I have held these from the 500p level.I expect to see 325p before a retracement.Really,I have held on for far too long, bolstered by a not bad dividend so I might as well stay in for what might be an interesting ride! The moving averages look right for a continued rise of share price lol to us all and may a mighty bidder come along and "snap" them up for 600p per share!!ha...ha | amla
12/1/2007 11:25 | Motoring on up!!! | astol
12/1/2007 10:43 | They say its a good sign when a share breaks over a new threshold ie 300p. If this holds today and ex divi date in Feb at 6.7p we could see a move towards 310p+ early next week. | astol
12/1/2007 10:28 | Astol - Unfortunately, I only have 1500 shares (but I have over 70 different shares in a very diversified portfolio!). | gorse |
