13/5/2004 07:28 | Me too. Might buy an initial 5/10K though pre-funding while they're 9p to buy. Never been this cheap. | jdhurry

11/5/2004 21:56 | Had this company on my monitor for some time now as I am a sucker for anything in the new technology area which usually means that I loose money! I really did think that this was a winner and still believe that the product benefits are compelling but I think that I will wait a while until the fog clears over the plant that is effectively "half sold" and the possibility of them getting a chunky government grant to get a more commercial scale unit built. I was almost going to take them off my monitor but have decided to let them stay for a few months. It will certainly be a slow burner (no pun intended!) if it does turn around but has the potential to really take off if it can get its funding sorted out. | salpara111
10/5/2004 08:54 | jd - no, after much careful thought, I have called it a day for now, but may go back in if there are positive signs CPO can survive long enough to exploit long term market potential. I fear that privilege may go to someone else, which is a shame..... The story and technology is good, it is the willingness of the market to buy, too much politicising etc, which is the problem. | magic198
09/5/2004 12:27 | Magic...are you still holding? | jdhurry
06/5/2004 16:38 | Too many promises, not enough delivery. The clock is ticking..... | magic198
04/5/2004 11:29 | All 'Jam Tomorrow' though. No substance, no delivery. Annual accounts will presumably be delayed until after the July deadline? As things stand, they still will not be able to get those audited accounts signed off, until the £5m is confirmed. Failing that, they are basically insolvent. I do agree that there are now some interesting developments, but you really need to keep your feet on the ground with this outfit. Their past record is appalling. Nevertheless, one to watch... | katylied
04/5/2004 11:10 | More news... Richard Hogg of CPO will be speaking tonight at a Chartered Institute of Marketing seminar in the Create Centre, Smeaton Rd, Bristol. Starts 6.45pm. Admission £10 (£5 for students). And recently... Jon Beswick, CPO Head of Development, was one of the delegates with the British Consulate on a leading UK Trade Mission on waste management in Hong Kong on 15-16 March. This mission was to "provide an opportunity for decision makers in Hong Kong in the public and private sectors...to discuss the scope for co-operation between Hong Kong and the UK in this important business sector." Also of interest... CPO were one of a delegation of six UK companies to Mumbai and New Delhi in February 2004 on a week-long seminar with the Indian Environmental Association and India Chambers of Commerce. According to a recent article in British Commercial News: "There was considerable interest shown by Indian interlocutors in Compact Power's innovative pyrolysis technology". Good proactive company with "unique technology" and "best-available technology" according to other articles. Seems all positive to me. Government grant in the pipeline, a certainty I think because CPO have various political connections (eg. member of Parlaimentary Sustainable Waste Group etc). | jdhurry
01/5/2004 12:27 | Yes that is interesting. However, the problem remains much the same. Planning delays and the PFI have already ruined CPO expectations with other projects in the past. So, it does not mean CPO are sorted by any means. It just means that they have a another new early-stage opportunity, assuming they survive their current do/die July 2004 deadline with their Avonmouth buyers (remember, the £5million payment is conditional on performance). | katylied
01/5/2004 02:48 | A bit ambitious, maybe, but excellent news don't you think? The best bit is that CPO are almost certain to get at least £3 million from the Government under this new Programme, and possibly alot more! Means CPO are sorted. Plus £5 million coming from the Avonmouth deal in July. 10 years of Research & Development prior to £30 million float at 93p on 24 April 2002. Market cap £2.8 million!!! | jdhurry
01/5/2004 02:28 | Excerpts from Western Daily Press, 14 April 2004... The energy group Compact Power is planning a groundbreaking, giant waste-to-energy plant in the West, it has been revealed. The innovative Bristol-based company has applied for government funding for a demonstrator plant able to dispose of 30,000 tonnes of biodegradable waste a year. The Government plans to use new technology to reduce biodegradable rubbish dumped in landfill tips by 240,000 tonnes a year. Under its New Technology Demonstrator Programme...a total of £30 million is available. The aim of the programme is to help establish new waste treatment technologies that require pilot or demonstrator plants to show their technical or commercial viability. The proposed site would use the same technology [as Avonmouth], but on a much grander scale. Compact Power's CEO John Acton said it would be the largest site of its kind in the country. He added that if the plant was built it could lead to the roll-out of similar sites and would signal the next stage in the growth of Compact Power. "We are at the first set so far" he said. "If we were to go from 8000 tonnes to 30,000, from there it is game, set and match." | jdhurry
30/4/2004 09:29 | Looks like it marched to the top of the hill, and is now going back down again, If it manages to make some effective partnerships with £5m in the bank and some near future development possibilities, then something could arise from the ashes, Not sure whether i have the faith, Kev | kevster
26/4/2004 11:13 | Is it a secret? do tell.... | katylied
26/4/2004 07:50 | Guys/gals...since your last posts there has been some excellent news for CPO. | jdhurry
07/4/2004 18:36 | I remain as always on the sidelines with this one. Missed the 33% hike today as a result but I'm not bitter!! Let's wait and see what transpires. | sir walter rally
07/4/2004 13:47 | Well, without wanting to be overly cynical, if CPO do meet the June 2004 deadline, it will be a first for them. On the other hand £5million does look like enough cash for the forseeable future. The 30% bounce so far today, seems more or less MM inspired, unless some delayed buys are on the way. Anyway, seems there may be a bit of life yet... | katylied
07/4/2004 13:10 | Pretty desperate situation in that there are pretty tough operating conditions placed on the deal which allow the purchaser to just hand the plant back and demand their money back if the profitability figure is not met. I've never been in compact power but am a sucker for new or innovative products so have kept it on my watch list for sometime however it has been abundantly clear to me that they were running out of money and this seems to be the only way that they can raise some extra operating cash. As with so many companies of this type, the promise is rarely carried through into shareholder returns which is a real pity. | salpara111
07/4/2004 08:54 | I note that they felt that negotiations in regard to selling the Avonmouth plant would be concluded by the end of March ... And they have now done so, £5m isn't bad, but what position is the new business? Kev | kevster
04/4/2004 15:52 | Have finally given up the ghost on this one and exited before all the bath water drains away. Gave it a good punt as advised by my broker, even topped up at one stage, but has cost me dear. I fear the end is nigh. | magic198
24/3/2004 19:16 | Pretty sorry show really, idea good but lack commercial ability to exploit it. Bonus for someone else at bargain basin price | magic198
22/3/2004 19:25 | End of year days away. Last one out, switch off the lights. | katylied
13/3/2004 21:33 | I have been watching these for months and am curently relieved that I didn't take the plunge. Underlying technology sounds great but either the management, economics or both don't add up. I'l keep watching in case the right circumstances develop. I'd love to see this type of company take off. | sir walter rally
11/3/2004 19:21 | At a fire-sale price no doubt. | katylied |
