Major Traders Are Talking About $100 Oil Again

► Major trading houses predict crude-price spike later this year
► Trump’s demand for lower prices gets tepid response from OPEC

Major oil trading houses are predicting the return of $100 crude for the first time since 2014 as OPEC and its allies struggle to compensate for U.S. sanctions on Iran’s exports.

With Brent crude already jumping to an almost four-year high on Monday, that’s exactly the kind of price surge President Donald Trump has been seeking to prevent by pressuring the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries to raise production. Yet the cartel and its allies gave mixed signals at a meeting in Algiers on Sunday, ultimately showing little sign they would heed U.S. demands to rapidly push down crude prices.
OPEC’s reticence, combined with signs of accelerating supply losses from Iran, created a bullish mood the annual gathering of the Asian oil industry, traders, refiners and bankers in Singapore on Monday...

Wow TG,I didn't know that. Offerman I am glad to help,I am sorry that the subject is complicated. Basically MMs are seperate firms each trying to make money by buying at one price and selling at a higher one and competition between themselves causes fluctuations in the bid/offer. The more I try to simplify it the more complicated it sounds but basically they are all just out to make a buck.

Smoggy,

Level 2 on ADVFN is not open to premium users but is available at £44 per month!

An easy example is this, say there are 3 MMs on a stock,Wins,Peel Hunt and ANOther. Wins says it will buy at 4.2p and sell at 4.5p,Peel Hunt says it will buy at 4p and sell at 4.4p and ANOther just wants to sit it out so they say they will buy at 3.8p and sell at 4.6p. The best buy price is 4.2p by Wins so that becomes the bid and the best sell price is Peel Hunt at 4.4p,so that becomes the offer price. These MMs can alter what prices they are willing to trade at as they change their requirements due to gaining/losing shares to PIs.ps offerman as a premium user you should have level 2 access, so you can see what the MMs are offering,I think level 2 actually shows how many shares at what price each MM wants to buy/sell and which are on the offer/bid,there can be more than 1 MM on at the same price even.

Offerman the share price is dictated by what the market makers are willing to deal at. There are several different MM firms (Peel Hunt,WINS,etc) and all the ones that are involved in the share put in the prices they are willing to buy/sell at. The highest price of all the MMs that they are willing to pay for shares becomes the 'bid' price and the lowest price they are willing to sell shares at becomes the 'offer' price. Different MMs can be on the offer/bid price during the day. Say WINS wants more Cerp shares they might put in the highest bid price and then when a PI comes to sell the broker is likely to choose them. Once WINS has enough they may lower their price and some other MM becomes the best price and the new bid.

The bid price is actually slightly down. Only the offer price is up, which really pees me off. 3.16% up and my shares are worth less than they were this morning.

What intrigues me is the actual ways shares move up and down. People often say it's through buying and selling.Today is a classic example of something else that's able to move or manipulate a share price. We have had a couple of small buys and a couple of slightly larger sells and yet the price moves up. So unless there is a buyer in the background and there will be a late reported delayed buy I can't see what else actually moves the share price. I know news is up and coming with the update but I wonder what actually makes the share price go up and what or who presses buttons to set the price. As at the moment it doesn't seem to be based on buys and sells. There was a period of 7- 8 months I'd say of consistent sales on a daily basis then we had recently big MJ buying a few more. So today we are up nearly 3% but on what? And who. I'm just merely interested in the mechanics of who or what actually changes the share price stipulates I know market-makers can as well. Whether they physically push buttons I have no idea . Sometimes there can be buys and no share price movements likewise with sells . Would love to see the actual inside workings on the way is that share prices move like a documentary or something

Looking Back at the NR Days
Not ones I miss either....

RNS1: "We are pleased to announce that the company has submitted an application to remove a tree in preparation for drilling".

RNS2: "We are pleased to announce that the company has now been granted permission to remove the tree in question and proceed with the planned 10 hole campaign".

RNS3: "The company is pleased to announce that the tree causing the delay in our drilling campaign has now been removed. Unfortunately, during the process, the conpany encountered an unanticipated hold up, concerning the discovery of a root system growing beneath the felled tree. We hope to have this dealt with shortly and will update the market in due course".

...God how I don't miss those days!

SmoggyG/12bn - talking of false comfort you advised readers to sell at 2p around the time of the last Lind loan do you think history will repeat itself and the share price will soon climb to over 8.1p if they take the new Lind loan - after all the potential here is salivating with all the new projects and LK has managed to seriously increase Goudron production which you seemed to think wasn't possible!

At least we agree that a Lind loan is likely and we now all know that repayments could be made in shares at MARKET PRICES if that's what Cerp elect to do. It is a false comfort to think that repayment in shares will only be with 8.1p shares,it is better to see the real situation and not just a false misinterpretation, imo.

SmoggyG - I do believe they will take up the Lind loan as the terms are very attractive and LK takes a responsible attitude to borrowing as you know from how he conducted the previous Lind loan - sometimes I think he just likes to make a monkey out of you 12bn/ SmoggyG!

If there is a deal with Lind soon,as looks likely, the repayments will have to be in cash or shares AT THE MARKET PRICE,unless Lind themselves request payment in shares in which case the 8.1p kicks in. If Cerp elect to pay in shares then it will be at market prices and will mean that the loan will be like a VC seda tap deal.

TG - great video - indulged myself with some follow on clips from Youtube and realised Rick's death had passed me by - interesting view from Francis about letting matters take their natural course.

As for the share price market still needs to see more evidence that the strategy will work hence the current water treading but it's still early days - so much potential here!

Oil jumps 1.8%, settling at $71.12, after 5th weekly drop in US crude stockpiles

U.S. crude oil tacked on gains after rising more than 1 percent in the previous session.
The market is concerned that top oil exporter Saudi Arabia will not respond aggressively to price increases with supply cuts.
U.S. crude stockpiles fell by 2.1 million barrels, the Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday.

Floating around

The share price was around this price about 12 months ago and then touched 8p in October but look at the progress that the company has made since then. The deals that have been made regarding SWP whickn make the foundations stronger, sometimes you need to take a step back and consolidate (Icacos) before taking 2 steps forward. The bopd have increased and the acquisition of Steeldrum is going through. I feel there will be plenty of good news with real progress made in the next update. Where we are now is important but seeing future growth and potential is important too and that does not mean it’s just ‘jam tomorrow’ I am looking forward to the next update on the water injection pilot schemes and unlike some posters I believe real progress has already been made on current production. Let’s wait and see, but I was happy to buy more recently at around 4.2p.

RE: Floating around

On a general note I would be disappointed if the company had more cash in the bank than it had a year ago. It’s about 18 months ago now that the company looked dead and buried, losing money, diluting to stay alive, no prospects and I’d lost hope and sold out near an all time low. Everyone, well almost everyone, has bought into LK’s strategy and his plans for exoansion to take this little company and build it into a strong and profitable one. We appreciate it takes time, we know the foundations have to be strong before the real build can take place and the ‘dodgy’ ground the company was previously on has been flattened and firmed. We are building and expanding and this costs money so building a bank balance now is not a priority. A placing has been firmly ruled out many times and the Lind facility instead of been something to dread in my eyes is a bonus, it removes uncertainty as we know where money is coming from IF it is required. IMO it’s a nice to have and my optimism is not going to be dimmed if this facility is accessed as I feel it will mean they are accelerating their expansion plans and continue to get the biggest bang for every buck and not a sign it is running out of cash.
