might hit 50p as it may need nine months to recover if lucky. |
Terrible results LONDON (AFX) - Telecoms chip maker CML Microsystems PLC warned it will probably post a loss for the current year to March as it unveiled a sharp fall in pretax profit for the six months to September on the back of a 30 pct drop in turnover. Pretax profit dropped to 222,000 stg from 2.37 mln a year earlier as turnover fell to 6.88 mln stg from 9.79 mln. "The results for the six months... are broadly in line with market expectations, but disappointing compared with our earlier internal forecasts for the group's principal trading markets," said chairman George Gurry. "My expectation is that overall group trading will get somewhat worse before it begins to improve, and it will be challenging for CML to avoid reporting a loss for the current year to end 31 March 2003." newsdesk@afxnews.com |
GOOD THING I DIDNT TOUCH THIS ONE |
Their Sales Director joined the competition so that probably had an impact.CML make chip sets for wireless applications.Personally I would not buy unless the results are very good.I know the company very well ! |
panagos, you are here mate. I will read the result tomorrow. |
Frapnid
I agree looks good value. However last results flattered somewhat by strong performance in the first half. They were loss making second half.
Balance sheet looks strong. Any idea what the 9M tangible assets comprise? If a significant part is freehold property then a nice bonus.

You might be right, it's quite high risk though...... |
Price 120-130p Net cash per share 56p Yield 16%(!) NAV 141p Historic PE ~10
Make widgets for telecoms, so not exactly flavour of the moment. But have weathered the storm quite well - a profits warning earlier in the year got them caned and have drifted further since although now off lows.
Second half of last year saw the big drop in profits, but things seem to have recovered somewhat since.
Results next Tuesday (19/11) will, I'm hoping, reinforce the 'our heads are above the water' position and hold the divi. If so its well undervalued I reckon and they'll trot back to 160/170 sharpish...
On the downside good support from nav, divi and cash.
Any opinions? Of course DYOR... |
Other wireless players making better products? |

Seem to be over sold as statement says lower profits not no profits for the year. |
Why the big fall? |
What do we expect on Tuesday when results announced. Any ideas? IT hardware dealing semiconductors. This has come off its lows from to 460 over the past few weeks and now stands at 495p. Could this be similar to ARM or Dicom that has also done well recently! |
Prudential sold! Eaglet sold a couple of weeks ago.
What next? |
Has anyone idea what is happening here? Three large trades all delayed sell marked today but the bid is steady, offer up 5p. Results out next Tuesday 12th. PTP consensus £4.93M |
How much farther to go before buying is an option.
Any comments would be appreciated |
Might be what you say, 'stonking stock' but look at the sector it is in, SEMICONDUCTERS, You cant buck the market, (sentiment) Time to sell? Pick some up another day. Great Company though. |
Signed Novatel as a customer Friday - near 10% rise late doors. Expect more on Monday.
PE still only 35 for a semi-conductor stock.

have been tracking the price movements to sales/buys recently. MM's are being a bit swift to move the price down on a bad day, I presume to entice a few sells.
Agree with melfaraj, it is only going to take a couple of good days on the Nasdaq to get this tightly held darling up and on toward £9 or better.
Very resiliant on the bad days, and a mover on the good ones.
Should form part of ant tech portfolio in my opinion. |
the chart is showing a bullish wedge formation at present. this same formation was seen 5-6 months ago after which the price took off, although in a delayed fashion. the company is also in the right subsector of the tmt. expect things to happen |
