Strong finish today, hope it bodes well for results tomorrow |
Any thoughts on why CMCX et al are doing well vs UK asset managers? I hold both so no relative position either way but what's holding UK equity managers back? This reeves budget can't have helped... |
Clearly have a good product which the banks want to get onboard with. |
N Zeal tie up. Every little helps as they say |
Very decent results from AJB today, read across to CMCX. |
Where did you see this? I couldn't see anything online doing a quick search |
Interesting closing action |
From one perspective, the stock was unfairly punished during the period leading up to the last 12 months, mainly because expectations were set unrealistically high. The market anticipated that it would replicate the extraordinary results achieved during the pandemic when everyone was homebound.
Naturally, it didn’t match those pandemic-level results . However, despite this, the company still performed strongly. The tripling of the stock price is simply a correction and bounce-back off extreme lows, bringing it back to a more reasonable trading range, given its current results and future prospects (in my humble opinion).
Over the last five years, this business has undergone a complete transformation. It now excels in multiple areas, showing its strength and versatility. |
Also tripled in fairly short time |
Reading about possible tax on Spreadbetting in the budget. I'm not tempted to add ahead of the 30th announcement. |
![](https://images.advfn.com/static/default-user.png) Was a downgrade yesterday. 182 seems a bit harsh.
CMC Markets (SELL 182p). 1H trading update CMC has reported strong trading with 1H25 net operating oncome expected to be c.£180m, +45% yoy (DBe £160m), consistent with the top end of previous guidance (FY £320-360m). Operating costs are expected to be c.£113m (ex variable remuneration) which is consistent with previous FY guidance of £225m. Consequently, 1H PBT guidance of £51m is running ahead of implied consensus (FY £83m). The top line beat reflects the continued expansion of the B2B segment and sustained levels of client trading activity (we not the VIX has risen from an average of 15 in July to 18 over the last two months). Operationally, it has expanded into cash equities and options as well as preparing for the launch of cash ISAs in the UK. The onboarding of Revolut clients has commenced following a soft launch, with actives increasing steadily. Despite 1H tracking ahead/at the top end of implied guidance, the company is not revisiting existing FY guidance quite yet, but will give more guidance at its 1H results scheduled for 21 November. guidance. CMC trades on 14.7x FY25 PER. |
Could be a political risk - the budget will likely hold many unpleasant surprises and there's a scramble to find more taxable revenue - trading companies might be affected.

I was going to buy in first thing yesterday, glad I held off |
I am surprised too. I thought the statement pretty stellar |
Not alarming. Liquidity for a big guy. The real move is In the coming weeks. Drops below support then time to review |
Surprised has dropped today? |
Because the people with the greatest knowledge of the company’s future prospects are the directors. They’re not infallible but they know more than the rest of us about the internal state of the company |
Why be bothered about director purchases, you should be focusing on where the company is heading, and the valuation attributed. |
OK, got it now, thanks. |
To be clear - the Directors didn't buy them. It was bought on their behalf by the company as part of their share plan deal. |
Tks for comments - not too fussed about any profit - just puzzled about buying with insider knowledge before a major announcement. Thought that was against rules. pete |
lol pete, they made about 20quid....string em up , I say! |
Its shared acquired as part of a share plan and aren't Significant in value. |
Excellent news, but I am a bit puzzled by the 2 director buys. Am I missing something? They appear to have confirmed share purchases a couple of days prior to a major announcement when the share price shoots upwards. Is this entirely legal? pete |
Good reaction so far, news today should underpin share price until results at end Nov |
