"...Although Cluff has an excellent project pipeline in place, it is financing which is the major hurdle that now needs to be overcome to see it advance - and that is no easy matter in these days of austerity. For the moment the company is exploring several funding scenarios for Baomahun, where the project can be funded without equity dilution or the necessity to put a major gold hedging programme in place and thus lose any advantage that may be received from any substantial future gold price rise. It is not expected to be a hugely costly project by today's standards with figures of $200 million being suggested.

Suggesting confidence in its own future, and in West Africa, Cluff is also looking to "enhance the company's short term productive capacity if an accretive opportunity arises" reckoning that its relatively strong cash position and positive cashflow puts it in a good position in this respect.

McGloin is obviously positive on the future of the company noting to Mineweb that it has an excellent management team in place, some high quality gold assets and is currently on well on track to achieve its future production plans."

With either opinion on Spivey, surley time is running out.If the DFS comes out in October, I see no reason for the company to try and go it alone. Why sell part of the assets to finance another. The share price will never recover in these market conditions. If sentiment turns positive, then great but its not looking likley at the moment. They only way shareholders large and small are going to be able to realise some value is for the company to be sold. With the long awaited and much delayed DFS,there should be enough parts to the jigsaw to give any interested parties a very good idea of future potential in the company.

armagosa, enrich me with your explanation of why everything Spivey has been telling us about the DFS since he came on boards now turns out to require major re-work

sporazene2, you appear to have limited knowledge of the Company and its inner workings. If that's what you believe, that's fine.

Well, we are advised that the resource update and the feasibility study for Boamahun will be announced in October. Let's see if they can time this one right.

$28.8m cash with no debt.Over £18m.At the current market cap of £91m, the company is looking dirt cheap.Generating somewhere in the region of £20m in cash pa after costs and royalties.

There is no chance of Spivey being replaced, nor would that be in any way necessary, helpful or desirable. Spivey is a very talented mining engineer and a great asset to the company. He inherited a mess from Algy and Douglas and has transformed the company from a one-trick pony (Boamahun) into an entity with 2 or possibly 3 major projects going forward.

corrientes, i think OMI have different problems, but when are companies like CLF and OMI going to learn to manage expectations correctly.

Spivey is paid $300k basic and to be honest i have seen no value since he arrived; pretty much every milestone has been missed with the expection of kalsaka production

Funny that - it almost paraphrases what someone else has just said about the OMI results also out today,

i'm afraid the situation in SL is a total shambles. I really dont understand why the exec chairman would come in and look to change the approach after all the time spent on this activity so far. This can only call into question the competance of the leadership to date in terms of the approach taken to maximise the value of the asset.

So at least another 4 months delay from the last given timetable, as previewed in the trade press last week by the CFO

The funny thing here is they could have pretty much done the feasibility study from scratch in the time we have been delayed, orignal date was given as June 2011.

Spivey must be on thin ice, i personally dont believe a word that comes out of his mouth related to the exploration and development programmes.
