Excellent results considering the profit warning in November. Profit of about £1 mn in 2009 against a market cap of £3.75 mn! Good production levels too (the debt repayment we already knew about). All in all very encouraging.

So the privileged institutions sold £260 of stock today on the plus market and cause the share price to fall? This is an illiquid stock that gets pushed around by small trades. If and when the news is good it will retrace and hit new highs. Until then best to sit tight imo.

Thanks Woracle Interesting statement from HAIK

"businesses has shown a modest improvement compared to that experienced in the third quarter of 2009, primarily due to increased selling prices and stronger market demand. However, the inflation of feedstock prices during the continuing harsh winter has impacted margins when compared to the first half of 2009. Despite this, the business as a whole moved back into profitability, at the operating level for the month of December 2009"

Its a good bench mark for CBI, however I wonder if the market has priced this in already for CBI at current sp?

Who can tell if the margin will improve (or worsen). CBI can only work on making the assets sweat. If the gross profit margin shrinks they need volume to keep net profit margin consistant (providing fixed costs dont step increase). A bumper year can only happen when volume is maximised and feedstock costs are low enough for a good margin. At that point the share price will ZOOM...its all down to luck then as it really is impossible to predict!

jk, a good indicator I reckon is vege stuff like soy & palm oil. Prices have trended significantly higher H2. Also check out Haike statement today. Don't use exactly same materials but oil based feedstocks all follow same trend these days.

Anyone got any estimates on cbi profit margin for next reporting plus 2010? Its difficult to predict and wondered if anyone had raw material price tracker. This share will only ZOOM once margins repair themselves

Blimey, someone dared buy 50k shares in a profitable company with a paltry 4 million quid market capitalisation.

They must be insane! ;^)

Wow, that was some rise yesterday! Crazy to think that this got sold off to 7.5p and 3.5m market cap. when the company admitted it's still in profit! Just imagine what the share price will do if those margins start improving again... :0)

Yes JB, I noticed that mentioned on the CR thread, but not one for me. CR seems to love stocks with appreciable debt, but I don't. Good luck with it! :0)

What's that, JB? I've only got 4 stocks now and am a bit averse to illiquid micro-caps after the CBI and BTC experiences, though the latter is starting to show signs of more interest and a little more liquidity at last. :0)

JB - know what you mean. There's only one thing better than a beaten down stock that has recently released iffy, margin-squeezing news. And that's a beaten down stock that's recently been releasing all good news!! :0)

This stock is so bombed out that no-one posts any more, even when it goes up. They are utterly beaten down and defeated. That's my sort of stock!! :0)
