04/9/2008 09:23 | The bottom line eps increase is excellent and if carried through to the FY should surely lead to eps of over 20p? Any comments on the slower turnover growth - am assuming the big contract announced in April will show in the 2nd half? | penpont
04/9/2008 09:22 | They have less cash than at full year though | robhammers
04/9/2008 08:45 | Solid and reliable metal bashing! Still bringing home the bacon and the yield just went up another 32% for the H/Y! A very long standing part of my portfolio and the part I have no thoughts of changing. O/T try 600 Group for another gem in the same sector. | philjeans
04/9/2008 08:33 | ... Bill Taylor, Chief Executive of Chieftain, said: "Another cracking set of results! During the period we have won an exciting pipework fabrication and erection contract, the largest ever for the Group, and are hopeful of winning a second similar contract before the year end. Highlights * Operating profit before exceptional items £984,000 (2007: £760,000) - up 29% * Earnings per share before exceptional items to 8.68p (2007: 6.38p) - up 36% * Turnover up at £22.8 million (2007: £21.6 million) - up 6% * Interim dividend per share raised to 3.3p (2007: 2.5p) - up 32% * Strong cash position maintained - £4.3 million at period end * Malcolm Oliver appointed as Deputy Chief Executive Engineering * Largest pipework contract ever secured by the Group for a major oil and gas project - additional contract anticipated before year end Outfitting * Long term contract for Royal Navy's Astute submarines continues Mr Taylor says... The markets in which we operate, oil and gas and marine, have ensured that we are unaffected by uncertainties in the wider economy and continue to witness strong demand from this sector. Long term contracts and a strong order book mean we remain confident for the Group's prospects." All sounds very positive to me | davidosh

18/8/2008 17:14 | Sure there is no problems, if there results would have been this month as stated above. Best time would be towards the end of September when all the schools are back, then all will be back at there desks. | veryniceperson
18/8/2008 15:00 | If you have bad news then a company is likely to try and hide it on a Friday afternoon before the bank holiday Monday...ie at the end of this week or during the following week when all the commentators and investors are on their holidays. Good news should be released when they are back at their desks. I remain positive so expect a morning announcement in the week beginning Monday 1st September. | davidosh
18/8/2008 14:50 | i am sure that i have heard, albeit indirectly, that they are keen to make sure their statement reaches the wides and best audience. 27/6/2008 18:01 | With the strong newsflow to come and interims due in five weeks which should be significantly ahead of a year ago I am not surprised there is a buyer. The company have been recruiting heavily and are doing business in the right sectors so little to worry about and a drop on low volume in this market is to be expected. The results will do the talking IMO. | davidosh |
