Have just got back into these after a very long time out.

Was it Citicorp who was buying CHAR by the wheebarrow in 2010? One of the US banks anyway.

Is whoever it was still sitting on this holding?

yeah... wot i meant, is sure hope they dont just mention a possible failure in amongst their other stuff that gets reported within the annual results... it would still be there as after balance sheet items etc... and sure hope that is not the reason no announcement for completion of the drill has occurred...

on the positive side of things... the longer it takes, might mean no plug and abandon effort but instead extensive testing ongoing due to coming across oil etc...

we might find out tomorrow...

some indepth news of this drill perhaps ??

Peel Hunt Chariot Oil & Gas – Buy from Hold Set for a much better 2014 Having worked hard to reposition the portfolio away from being a pure Namibia play, Chariot now has an asset base of scale spanning four countries and multiple basins that individually have generated prospect inventories that could deliver material exploration success. We anticipate continued progress with the various ongoing partnering initiatives and as firm drilling timelines are defined expect the shares to recover strongly from current near multi-year lows. We have had a Hold recommendation on Chariot for around 12 months following the disappointments of the previous Namibian drilling campaign. However, looking forward into 2014 we see a number of potential positive catalysts emerging that we anticipate could help the shares recover.  The main price drivers in the coming months are likely to surround progress on various partnering processes with respect to Namibia Central Blocks (ongoing), Namibia Northern Blocks (post drilling of Welwitschia-1 by Repsol) and also potentially in Mauritania PHe 2H 2014 following the interpretation of 3,500km2 of new 3D seismic data.  The materiality of Chariot's portfolio in terms of its prospective resource potential is considerable and we highlight this as a key feature that much larger E&P companies consider when assessing the merits of M&A for smaller businesses; the follow-on potential in the event of a commercial discovery, or 'running room', typically needs to be large. In this respect we feel Chariot screens well versus peers and anticipate that a future commercial discovery would likely also create a credible event-driven investment angle for the shares.  However stepping back from the takeover thesis for a moment, we feel that as things stand, the complexion of Chariot's portfolio and the amount of technical work that has been and continues to be undertaken to de-risk the asset base means that even without a commercial discovery, the shares are currently attractively priced. Chariot's current market value (c£36.9m) implies that most of the potential future upside is valued at close to zero and in our view represents attractive exploration option value.  Valuation and recommendation: Chariot is currently trading very close to its balance sheet cash position of £34.4m (17p/sh) vs a mkt cap of £36.9m (18.25p/sh) and with our assumed post farm-out RENAV, comprising Core NAV (adjusted cash) of £25m or 12.3p/sh and risked prospective exploration upside of £491.7m or 243p/sh pointing to the potential for very material upside on a 12- 24 month view, we feel the timing is right to change our recommendation from Hold to Buy and move our target price upwards from 20p to 40p in anticipation of increased positive corporate news flow through 2014. Yes... someone on LSE said it crossed the 200 day MA as well - a good sign. I am not a chartist but support, resistance, 200 day MA ... that's plenty for me...and with the share price 1/4 of book value approx... and that is without any real value for acreage or opportunity its a screaming buy...at last! Wakey wakey Mr Market...!
