29/7/2017 18:27 | The comm's on the ground with those inside appears to be turning more positive, along with construction work continuing on the terminal building and other key elements of the project, apparently the welding issues with the main support legs was not as significant as some reported and would appear to be resolved, albeit some permitting is required before they can be erected, ertainly one to watch closely,.....GL S You also wonder if the separation was a tad premeditated? "STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- While the developer of the New York Wheel faces a large hiccup after firing its builder, and must find a suitable company to complete the $580 million project, Borough President James Oddo and Councilwoman Debi Rose are optimistic the tourist attraction -- which is expected to create jobs and infuse Staten Island with tourism dollars -- will be completed." "The NY Wheel's developer, Rich Marin, severed ties with builder Mammoet-Starneth LLC after the two companies found themselves in court, battling over a project that was months late, with delays costing millions of dollars." "Now, the Wheel must find a new builder to finish the job of constructing the 630-foot observation wheel with views of Manhattan." "A NY Wheel spokesperson told the Advance last week, "The developer is committed to completing the New York Wheel," and Oddo and Rose believe it." "Kept in the loop during the project's steps, both said the firing was not a surprise." "It's unfortunate," Oddo told the Advance. "I think it was a necessary step." | swizz
27/7/2017 08:36 | Wish I had the funds to top up. Just 0.6m market cap, and a savings of 25% to the price I paid 2 days ago. | abeygale
26/7/2017 18:12 | I contacted Mark last week, his response is below, in the current circumstance I feel positive about CHAL. Funding is in place and they still have asset value in NYW so the current share price is at bargin value IMHO Hi XXXX- our latest RNS gives you a better idea about our thoughts on the NY Wheel than any of the recent press. As for other projects, we are still in the evaluation stage and working through potential deals. 25/7/2017 15:37 | Quite right. For me my money is better off being locked up in here, because I have a track record of picking dud stocks. | abeygale
25/7/2017 14:45 | You may well both be right. The question, from an investor's point of view, is not only "whether" to invest, but also "when". For the time being, my funds are working harder elsewhere. | yogaboy
25/7/2017 13:20 | you could look at it this way, they are three quarters of the way to completion, as all big projects they have hit some problems but this will be resolved as most of the cash has been put into the project already. CHAL have a funding stream of up to £1mln with an investment of $3mln so current share price looks very week. I feel there is still some overhang of stock to clear which is holding the share price back. | quinan
25/7/2017 13:17 | This project is huge and one day will be completed. Well worth it even if it takes 5 years. As CHAL will be at least 20p when it's completed. | abeygale
25/7/2017 12:30 | I still look in here every now and then, wondering if it's time to buy CHAL. After readmission in December 2015, the share price briefly touched 50p and has then fallen slowly but surely to its current price of around 1p. Each fall has the potential to create a buying opportunity. So, is it time now? This is how I see it... From the RNS dated 20 October 2016: "The legs for the wheel have arrived in the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal. Each of the four legs weighs 550 tonnes, measuring 18 feet wide and 275 feet tall. They will be deployed to the site and erected onto the pedestals in December". From today’s RNS: "Each of the four legs for the wheel, which weigh 550 tonnes and measure 18 feet wide and 275 feet tall, are complete and ready to be erected onto the four pedestals already on site". Huh? The legs were ready to be erected two months after the October announcement, but they are still waiting. From 20 October 2016: "The grand opening is April 2018” (that was when the legs were to be erected in December 2016). From today’s RNS: "we are very confident that this project will be completed”. Huh? The Board no longer commits to an opening date. In summary, today’s announcement merely states that “US$400 million has been spent” and "the parking garage is fully functional”. To put it another way, since readmission the BOD has overseen a period of 18 months during which the company has built a half-a-billion-dolla A buying opportunity? I still can’t see it that way. | yogaboy

18/7/2017 07:27 | Don't see where you get no cash from last month they entered a £1ml Note Facility. Challenger Acquisitions Limited (LSE: CHAL) announces that it has received GBP100,000 (GBP95,000 net of fees) from the setup of a new GBP1,000,000 unsecured convertible note facility due 8 June 2019 ("Note Facility"). This Note Facility will be used for general working capital purposes and to potentially support an acquisition or development of a project to complement the Company's US$3 million equity interest in the US$590 million New York Wheel Project which is currently under construction. Challenger has also engaged a London based consulting firm, on a success fee basis, to assist in identifying and securing project level funding sources for potential Giant Observation Wheel projects and for other new potential projects in the leisure and entertainment sectors which the Company is currently evaluating. Mark Gustafson, the Company's Chief Executive Officer, said: "We are very pleased to have a funding facility in place and to be working on securing additional funding sources for potential new projects for Challenger. Further updates will be provided in due course." | quinan
