FJgooner. In part but STUPIDINVESTOR probably doesn't know, the same as he doesn't know that SAGA don't only do cruises.

Hate to say it but i agree with Rose. Bale out while you're hopefully still in profit and buy back in. Not sure about 35p but certainly see 40p on the horizon

FTSE 100 bosses earn (£31,461)
of a median ANNUAL wage in just............34 HOURS
outrageous in the present climate

my brother did a round trip 600miles worked through
the night working on new tills for an M&S boss who
threatened to get him the sack for finishing a few minutes late

whistleblowers come forth

Who is risking them? I’m not a BG engineer you plum. That’s abundantly clear from my posts. I am a qualified engineer but not for boilers, not even remotely related to this industry. I’m a qualified Aeronautical engineer.

There aren’t even 10M+ customers with boiler cover. Blimey. You honestly don’t know a thing about the company you own shares in.

The management team have created this situation, not the engineers. They aren’t asking for ANYTHING extra. It’s the management that are playing loose with the elderly.

You’ve again failed to answer my questions.

Let’s try again? It’d take a special type of moron to fail to grasp some simple questions 3 times around but I’m sure you’ll manage it...

Would you be prepared to work 21.62% longer each and every week of your life for NOTHING? To put it another way, based on a 5 day working week, that’s an extra 1 hour and 36 minutes each and every day of your working life for NOTHING.

If you are so in favour of T&C cuts, what’s your name and who do you work for? Come on, lead by example...

If you’re so in favour of regression, do you have an outside toilet? Maybe you light your house with candles? Maybe you live in a cave?

1. The 'many' are the public - 10 million+ customers who you guys are choosing to risk being left without essential services while it snows outside in sub zero temperatures during a pandemic! Elderly folk to boot while haggling over a few £'s with millions unemployed.
2. The company will have no problem in replacing you - I know many who would be grateful just to have a job in these times and would jump at the chance to work for a huge company and brand like British Gas - far generous all round package than most.

Think again about the elderly and vulnerable whose well being you are risking during this vicious freeze.

Exactly ohoh.

Have you ever seen the figures British Gas offer a contractor?

£19.55 for a service
£33.15 for a completed repair

That wouldn’t be worth the effort by the time they’ve paid their petrol, van, tax, factored in your travel time etc.

At best they’ll get newly qualified people who may take it up whilst they build up a customer base. If they are clever about it, they don’t say ‘I can do it you cheaper next year’ as the risk/reward based on the timescales isn’t worthwhile but you would note all the details - name, address, phone number and date then contact them just prior to that date next year when you’ve built up a client base and poach a few more customers.

Also, if you’re a contractor and it’s 2’ deep with snow, which jobs are you going to go to? The lucrative ones that’ll pay well, your own client base or the ones that British Gas are paying you buttons for? Hmmm...let me think?

They’ve really not thought it through.

The BG engineers would probably be able to highlight the houses they go to year after year and target them too.

If I were a BG engineer I’d not be breaking a sweat. Very easy to undercut £85 British Gas service price, especially when you’re a known and trusted face that’s been attending year after year.

Justice for the many, wrong monicker if ever I've seen one.Who's this fantastical WE that have encouraged O'Shea to carry on with this attack on people's lives. O'Shea and the BoD should be ashamed of trying to benefit from this pandemic which is what he is trying to do.

What happens when the strike is over, can't imagine the fitters are going to be motivated to do more than what basic pay requires. There is lots of work for these trades and could turn on the company and become competitors.

Norma i completely agree with you. Justice for himself clearly has no idea of what principles are these days when dealing with long serving loyal employees. They dont deserve anymore time wasted on them. As u said he wont answer basic questions. I know many friends who work at Centrica who know this is the first time in living memory of a national strike to fight against an immoral practice of fire and rehire. Dont rise to the bait we know the true value the employees give

Cheers Mike.

It boils my urine when clueless people like justiceforthemany (is that the most inappropriate username ever when he evidently has no grasp of justice if he doesn’t believe contracts should be honoured?) post from a position of ignorance.

He has failed to actually answer any of questions or points put to him.

I’d also wager, with how long negotiations and due diligence takes, that the Direct Energy sale commenced on Conns watch?

justiceforthemany - You conveniently ignored the pertinent points in my last message.

Would you be prepared to work 21.62% longer each and every week of your life for NOTHING?

If you are so in favour of T&C cuts, what’s your name and who do you work for? Come on, lead by example...

Oh, Conn took over in Jan 2015, he left last year. That’s not 6years. Clue. You can count the number of years on 1 hand, although I suspect in your case that may explain why you thought it would be 6?

O'Shea has achieved more in 6 months than Conn did in 6 years.
The sale of Direct Energy for $3.6 Billion as an example.
Again be grateful you still have a job - we have encouraged him just today to again stick by his threat and fire all those who are choosing to strike at a time like this. See who comes back to the table first...

Are you for real, these people as you call them who have been going into people's homes to fix their broken boilers and central heating, yet they don't deserve to keep their own job. I am not a strike type of person but sometimes when you are up against a wall it's the last resort. Point some of that hate towards the BoD who sat on their hands whilst this once great company be dragged down by the Conn man, and then remember their comments about cold winters and big profits for Centrica despite what it did to people's incomes.
