Any clues as to why CGL are so strong today? Not complaining mind you.

Thanks kenny, that would seem to make sense.

I think that I will take a stake here.

From today's Telegraph:

Lloyd's of London insurer Catlin also dipped 16½ to 325p as Morgan Stanley placed 14m shares – around 3.9pc of the company – at 325p. Traders reckon the seller and buyer were long-only instiutions.

Looking at the trades, about £250K's worth around 13:30 seemed to have done the damage, with a bit of a sell off of smaller quantities being triggered by the earlier drop in the price.

Whether that is part of a bigger picture will hopefully become apparent soon. If there was a placing, as referred to above, why would it be required? Acquisition?

Have been watching for a while but am unclear as to the large and sudden drop today....someone somewhere knows something....as ususal the pi will be the last to know.
Will just have to wait and see what pans out but if there is no reason then they have to be a bargain at these levels.

If you look at the last set of results and take out the impact of the Chilean earthquake the numbers were very good. Holding a share like CGL you just have to hope their isn't another huge natural disaster that they are exposed to!

Hi all,

I hold CHU, and looking at Catlin as the yield seems remarkable. Forgive the Q but if I buy in now, do you know when the next divi payment is? I am assuming they are paid half yearly, so February time?

Thanks in advance. Good luck all

In my humble opinion Its not worth taking the chance of selling into this cut back as the shares could reverse very quickly.

I can see these above 400p in a month or so.
