Good rise recently. Any comments ?

Years ago they were over £1 - toll bridge etc in China, which contract they
did not win - went downhill after that, now pharma and one hotel refurbished
in China managed for them by IHI.

Have had their shares for years !!

Hopefully they will continue to rise !

I hold CTI shares - both 'common' shares and 'A' shares. Can anyone please tell me if there is a market for the 'A' shares?

I agree with you but i cannot find any shares in meaningful size without paying about 10% above the quote. It is very tightly held and sellers seem hard to force out despite the price rise. I have bid for 100k (c£15,000) but with no joy. Was offered 5,000 but hardly seems worthwhile after dealing costs.

I bought too, several plus years ago, but only have a small stake so have not paid too much attention to it. Will be pleased if this finally starts showing some life!

I don't get this. Now CTI are third on the chart price breakout leaderboard & have broken the 5 year chart despite very nervous markets and still no responses to my message above.

Why does no-one ever contribute to this board? I bought into Cathay several years ago since it was valued so hideously low against assets (as it still is). There were risks then, as the business was losing money and there was much to do to improve the fabric of their luxury hotel. That is all behind them, with the effort rewarded by a long term management deal with Intercontinental. If that doesn't guarantee long term high room occupancy rates, nothing will.

Then there is the growing & profitable Chinese pharmaceutical business. This looks to be the intended direction for the company now that they are freed from worrying about the hotel business.

There is slow accumulation going on now, but to me the 5 year chart looks like it may be about to break. If it does, I think that things could get interesting.

Anyone agree or disagree?

Davey3 - these have always been a rollercoaster. luckily i sold most of mine at 13p [amazing for me]. Revamping of hotels constantly hold back profits. Who knows what joy the pharma side will bring! regards

Bit of fall today! Anyone got any info this stock? Looking at the website it seems that it is a chinese pharma company that also owns a luxury hotel in China. Could be a buying opportunity

PRELIMINARY RESULTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2005

CHAIRMAN'S STATEMENT

INTRODUCTION

Repositioning was the theme for Cathay International Holdings Limited in 2005. We
acquired a pharmaceutical business to complement our biotech investments in the
fast growing and changing China market. We also made a major investment in the
redesign and renovation of the Landmark Hotel in Shenzhen (the "Hotel") to
position the Hotel at the very top end of the market as an all suite luxury
business hotel.

The Financial Times today carried a feature on Chi-Med, part of Hutchison Whampoa, which is planning a £40 million float on AIM shortly. It's a traditional Chinese medicine company. Earlier in the year China Biotech listed on Ofex.

The Chinese domestic market is growing at 20% pa, and is set to be world's fifth biggest in 4 years time.

What they didn't mention is that there is already a company listed in London, Cathay International (CTI) which has many pharma and biotech ventures in China and a valuation underpinned by its 5 star hotel in Shenzhen, run by a man called WU ZHEN TAO, who has already made a fortune in China from infrastructure projects. He owns a majority of the company. Yes, it's a punt, but they have many strings to their bow in the pharma/bio area, plus they bought a "drug" distribution business with 200 salesmen.

They don't have a web-site, year-end results due shortly.

Have a crack.
