26/3/2009 13:29 | Gary, It appeared on today's Citywire website | rikreschem
26/3/2009 11:57 | rikreschem - is that a recent recommendation or a longstanding one? Looking on thisismoney.co.uk the whole sector looks quite popular. All the big players have an overweight rating. | gary1966
26/3/2009 11:42 | Anything to say on the rights where to from here? | liquidkid
26/3/2009 11:33 | Yes, I'm here. Just noticed that Goldman Sachs has a buy recommendation on Catlin with a target price of 495p. Optimistic me thinks! | rikreschem
25/3/2009 17:21 | Anybody out there? | gary1966
16/3/2009 17:18 | Deadly, What I meant is no further income tax. Yes you have to put up with the 10% tax credit but that is it. | gary1966
16/3/2009 09:03 | Don't know what you mean by "..yield tax free". The tax on the divi is paid in advance and you don't get it back. | deadly
13/3/2009 10:05 | Just put nearly £2K worth in my ISA. Nearly 9% safe yield tax free. Where else are you going to get a safe return like that? Insurance markets becoming more favourable as well. Low base from which investment returns will take off over the next few years. Sinking £. Long termers tuck them away and enjoy the income. | gary1966
17/2/2009 20:12 | Pity there is little interest here. XD for 18p tomorrow so will probably drop, but recent results were solid and the tie-up with W. Brown & Associates sounds promising for the long term. What's more this is an excellent trading share thanks to no Stamp Duty. | deadly

13/1/2009 10:53 | Downgrade by Credit Suisse, but for me the dip looks overdone. | chris79
13/1/2009 10:38 | why the sudden plunge? Down 7% today. | irenekent
28/10/2008 21:06 | As an aside support the Kill the Spread campaign. It is in all our interests!! See below :- www.killthespread.co October 2008 (2) Dear Supporter, We wrote to you earlier this month with details of the Kill the Spread campaign objectives - since then word has really started to spread! Below are the links to the latest news and articles written about the campaign over the last two months. Were you aware that the London Stock Exchange is facing a High Court claim of anti-competitive behaviour from Plus Markets?? Change we need.....so what's next? Since we last wrote to you, we have been approached by several brokers, wanting to know more about the Campaign and offering their assistance! We were very encouraged by this it's comforting to know we aren't the only ones complaining about the AIM and its Market Maker system. It's killing their business too! We have learned a lot from their perspective on the way the AIM works and have now started discussions on some interesting initiatives including: 1/ Ways of creating an alternative Broker account for AIM shares, which could effectively cross stock between buyers and sellers, bypassing Market Makers and avoiding spreads. 2/ Creating a "ring-fenced" nominee account, offering guarantees to shareholders that their stock will not be loaned in the Market to cover short selling. We think these could be very compelling propositions for Investors and any views or feedback you could give us on this would be very helpful; info@killthespread.c We are also discussing ways forward to achieve the big systemic changes we are looking for with Direct Market Access, and we hope to be able to update you shortly with some very interesting developments. We are finding that there is a willingness to listen to the voice of the Private Investor, but to turn these initiatives into constructive measures, we need to prove we have sufficient numbers behind the Campaign.......... and this is where you come in! Hitting those Numbers! At this crucial stage your support is essential and we are now asking you to make a really big effort on behalf of Kill the Spread..... As a growing grass roots movement, we are now being taken seriously. We want our demands to be implemented as soon as possible and the only way we can ensure this happens is to prove beyond questionable doubt that a significant number of Private Investors are totally dissatisfied with the way the AIM market currently operates and are demanding change. In simple terms - we need to get the numbers up - and fast! 5,000 supporters = ACTION! Our target is to get to up to 5,000 supporters. We're getting there but we need to get there quicker!! We are currently up to just over 1,300 supporters on the Poll - so there is still a way to go. We are getting publicity but we really need the word to spread......So please, make sure you tell as many Investors you know about Kill the Spread. You can spread the word in the many ways: Talk to others Investors about the campaign Post a link to the site on your Blogs Post a link to the site on Bulletin-boards, Tell people in you Share Club/Investor Group Tell Everyone!! Ask people to sign up at the website and get them to complete the on-line poll it won't cost you anything and will only take a few minutes of your time. Help give us a real push and remember if every supporter brings in just 3 new supporters - our numbers will quadruple!! We are now on the brink of making a real difference for all Small Cap Investors - so a big push for more supporters right now is just what we need! Thank you once again for supporting Kill the Spread with your support change really is possible! Kind regards Campaign Coordinator Kill The Spread www.killthespread.co info@killthespread.c Please email us at info@killthespread.c Recent News: The London Stock Exchange is facing a High Court claim of anti-competitive behaviour from Plus Markets Great Article by Tom Bulford another mention from Dominic Frisby (mention is at the end of this article) | joan of arc
17/10/2008 11:48 | Insurance will be the first sector to recover. They will be experiencing rising profits through the recession as premiums recover. Was forced out of this early because of a margin call. Bought back in. Lets say they lose another 3% in investments from the October stock market crash they will still be trading at 60% of book value. | miamisteve
17/10/2008 08:49 | the announcemnet that came out three days after the price first dropped to today's post announcement level | ursus
14/10/2008 20:15 | Sorry Ursus, what announcement? | joan of arc
14/10/2008 15:28 | so what's all this price drop today about? ike losses? investment losses? pretty poor to have the 15% drop and then the announcement. but twas ever thus.... | ursus
19/9/2008 08:25 | This was obviously being heavily shorted and is benefiting from the ban, although didn't know that it was on the list. Should be interesting to see the effects when US opens. Prevously from my observations it had been pm sensitive suggesting that it was in play with US hedge funds. | miamisteve
29/7/2008 10:38 | They have a large exposure to bonds which have made big losses I believe. So it could be related to that. | joan of arc
29/7/2008 08:50 | Its got the lowest ROI in the sector and possibly something is being decimated in their investment portfolio | liquidkid
28/7/2008 23:20 | Hasn't anyone got a clue why this tanked today? | joan of arc
18/7/2008 15:43 | Support does seem to be there @ 3.30 Lost on this one now all the way down from 3.90 Wary now to go back in until I see a trend moving up. | eddiespotter
18/7/2008 15:24 | Seems to have found some intermediate support at 330p and now moving upwards. Any thoughts on this one ? | tole |
