Very upbeat.Good to see the interim dividend increase again.
All divisions seem to be doing well.

The company's report to the city this morning states: "The financial performance of our milling business, operating in an industry plagued by over-capacity and volatile input prices for years, has begun to improve.

"As with the Agriculture division, weather-related factors have had a beneficial impact; the exceptionally poor UK harvest of 2012 has led to a significantly greater dependence on overseas wheat and the port-side location of two of our three mills (Kirkcaldy and Silloth) continues to give Carr's cost-effective access to overseas wheat."

2013 is likely to see a further sub-standard harvest with similar results, it added.

Carr's said its milling business had started to improve thanks to poor UK harvests and reliance on overseas wheat, processed at its plants.

In Carr's engineering division, demand for remote handling equipment in the nuclear and petrochemicals industries had contributed to building revenues.

A good acquisition.

Tim Davies, Chief Executive of Carr's, commented:

"The acquisition of Western Feed Supplements is a natural strategic step for Carr's which follows our success in the USA feedblock market. WFS extends our geographic coverage in the USA in the low moisture tubs market and we expect to grow our market share in the feedblock business.

A good positive update next month and it could break out of its recent range.

Carrs millings share price doesn't seem to get affected by market noise and volitality which is nice and relaxing. If you look at the 3 year chart you will see that when market sell offs have occurred carrs milling holds up in the storm well.
