Evil Knieval aka simon cawkwell in this place, is probably content to sit and wait this one out. Has an old reputation for 'turning on a sixpence' that may well be unfair.

Lord Ashcroft may consider reinvesting his dividend in the purchase of more shares in CIHL. About USD5.4 million.

They can't borrow any overseas money until they pay BoB back funds. What a bonus in a special dividend we would get if they did.

Decided to add more shares at 30.8p to round my holding up to 70,000 shares. May appear pitiful compared to EK, but then, I'm far below his class of investing. Hope it works out for all - good luck.

I think The Share Centre, the best cheapest online broker.

Agreed that HL are expensive outside the UK (though they have reduced f/x fees last year, it still costs 1% currency fee to obtain even access US equities). For a lot of trades, including CIHL, it costs me only £8.95 to transact, not including dealer spread.

Noticeable is that HL are now showing CIHL historic price feed for the first time....

ii International are 'direct brokers' and HL use other broking services ie not direct. HL are an expensive pain if buying shares outside the UK and USA. Also voting at AGMs is an unnecessary bind - basically pathetic for my needs. However, I do have a SIPP with HL even though it's only income these days.

Link in Beckenham are used by many foreign companies who also have quotations on the London market. I remember they were involved when Woodside Petroleum withdrew from the London market and certificates came via them about 30 years ago, under their previous name. Many company directors and foreign outfits use their services. Very good with IFRS16 and IAS17, they have many Hubs.

You are correct in that Link Asset Services is involved in share dealing. However, Link Market Services, or to be pedantic, Link Market Services (Jersey) Limited is the Registrar for the Company (see www.cihltd.co/investor-information.html)

My holdings were bought via Hargreaves Lansdown, on the register those shares are not in my name but in HL Nominees Ltd. If underlying investors bought via Link Asset Services, it is more than likely they are held in Link Nominees.

However if there is an agreement between, say, Hargreaves Lansdown and Link, then HL (or any other broker) may decide to use Link Nominees.

Either way, Link Market Services nor Link Asset Services are not the underlying holders, merely acting as nominees. You are also correct in your assumption of Lord Ashcroft's holding (assuming public information is up to date), but the free float is indeed larger than your earlier assumption.

I think you'll find Link Market Trustees (Nominees) Ltd are the Company's registrars.

That being said, I also think this is a good story. Much dependent on the 'final' dividend announced some months off, but the underlying story looks sound until then...
