If the final dividend the same has the interim, that will do, what's that a 32% yield. Can't be many shares in free float. So won't take much buying to get this to 50p anyway.

Due to light trading it looks as if it will not take that much to move the price on. How seriously one should take SimplyWallStreets' £1.44 share estimated value I'm not sure. Maybe Simon Cawkwell's mention of 50p is fairer and considerably more if the Belize government repay what they owe.

Yes someone accumulating in batches of 50,000 it seems everyday. Good way of building a stake slowly, without spiking the price higher.

Someone quietly picking up 50K shares on occasions.

Good information, I wonder if GoB pay their loan back, could shareholders get a special dividend. This may turn into a cash cow for shareholders.

WIHL was incorporated in the British Virgin Islands on October 26, 2011 to replace BCB Holdings Limited, parent of The Belize Bank Limited and British Caribbean Bank International Limited, as the primary holding company for all its non-Belizean and several of its offshore assets. WIHL shares are traded by JP Jenkins (London) on a matched bargain basis. Other directors on WIHL's board are Philip Osborne, Peter Gaze - CFO, Andrew Ashcroft - COO and Philip Johnson.

Noirua,

Whom or what does Link represent?

With less than 6.73% of shares available to trade, after deducting Lord Ashcroft and Link's share ownership, it will be interesting to watch should a few decide it's worth taking a considerable position in CIHL. Holding 1 million shares means having about 14% of those remaining after Lord Ashcroft and Link's holdings are taken out. My own smallish holding is nearly 1%.

Trading is light for a share that so many must know about by now. That alone can put off heavier traders who will know the difficulties in unloading large quantities of shares in that situation. IIP was an exaggeration of this and I had to sell into the rise just in case some start dumping.

montyhedge,

I am not party to Lord Ashcroft's innermost thoughts but I surmise that until this debt matter is settled he has an incentive to keep CIHL quoted since that acts as a constant reminder of GOB's foolish behaviour. However, once it is settled, I suppose the noble lord will pay shareholders a knockout cash offer. After all, the cash involved is damn all - even at 50p it is only £10m or so.

I contacted the Belizean High Commissioner here in London perhaps three years back but was merely told that the debt due by GOB was being resisted by GOB. Since then the final ruling has gone against GOB.

As we have seen in recent times governments in Latin America and environs are not very sensible. But the fact is that Belize needs banks that operate. BOB does just that and, sooner or later - possibly a lot later, CIHL will surely be cleared up.

I have paid 31.875p this morning, taking my family's holding to well over 1m.

If GOB play ball, this could be the big winner 2020.Interesting GOB can't borrow overseas money until they pay money back to BoB.In the meantime collect a superb dividend.

Some investors don't want the dividend, sell now hoping to buy back cheaper on ex div date.

Addendum time: I omitted to stress on Christmas Eve that Caribbean (LON:CIHL) is in an interesting position in that featuring on its 30th September 2019 balance sheet is a large amount due to CIHL by the Government of Belize (GOB)...

I stuck a few in a isa , dividend tax free. If they pay the same again on the final, I think they will, yield 33% in a isa tax free thanks very much, lol.

It's only a couple of investors taking a profit, no harm taking a profit. They don't want a 16.7% dividend, they are looking to buy back cheaper after ex dividend, they will be unlucky.

Very quiet on this thread and many must be sleeping in this morning as us small PIs pick up some extra stock at 32.9p and 33p. The bigger PIs like Evil are probably sleeping in this morning and looking out at the frost and getting back under the covers or out there in sunnier climbs.

-- interim dividend declared of US$0.07 per share = 5.3435p a share.

At 32p a share = 16.7% interim dividend.
