Why do you say they don't have mountains of cash.. they had 3m in March, and the drilling was said, way back before elections, to be a couple hundred thousand maximum. It was a cheap way to add value. Yes they'll need cash eventually.. but let's see what comes of funding discussions first I think.

The plan to sell a chunk of the company (15% was mentioned) to local Sri Lanka investors is a sensible one IMO. Apart from raising some money, it will get some brownie points from the government, give positive PR, and also mean that if the government starts acting funny again, these local investors will be better placed to put the pressure on the politicians.

I'm still keeping an eye out here. The overall business case seems very strong, but I still have a couple of concerns.Has the new left-leaning government increased risks for foreign investment? Could they demand a large free carry in any project, or could they significantly increase the tax/royalty take? Also, while Martyr says they "aim" to not need any equity raising, in reality they don't have mountains of cash left, and have hired/are hiring a number of senior people to push the project forwards which will make increase costs.Any thoughts from anyone?

Smack,

That was a very interesting part of the RNS, as was this:

"Recommencement of Drilling Activities

Given the Sri Lankan parliamentary elections have concluded and the new ministers relevant to the Company's activities have been appointed, the Company is mobilising the drilling rig and team to recommence drilling activities. The purpose of the drilling is to increase the resource, as well as to help with design and engineering, mine planning and to obtain greater geological confidence in the proposed mining areas. Updates will be announced when appropriate."

Looking forward to lots of shallow low cost holes being drilled in the near term.

Regards,
Ed.

The Company has also been in active dialogue with offtakers, vendor financiers, and potential Sri Lankan project partners to finance the Project in a way that minimises or eliminates the requirement for the Company to raise market equity for the funding task. This approach is also significantly less time consuming than traditional project debt.and working with these.. https://mineraltechnologies.com/

Smacker,

Interesting RNS for sure. Looking forward to their operations update "near term" as they've been quiet on the recommencement of drilling for one. Good to see they're looking to progress the offtake funding route etc.

Chris,

Yeah amazing grades and huge scope to increase the resource further through some more low cost very shallow holes.

Regards,
Ed.

Rns The key objective for the conference is to advance discussions on offtake agreements and prepayment arrangements to contribute to funding for the revised stage 1 capex plan. The Company intends to provide an update on operations in the near term, including progress in discussions with a leading global equipment supplier and engineering firm for the revised stage 1 plan, still targeting a production rate of 0.55 million tonnes per annum.
