Very strange, a string of decent sized purchases and the price continues to decline!!!!!

As I mentioned before, they need to announce some new contract wins and soon!
The decimated order book was the main reason for the big move down at the last results.
I am holding for the moment but will be keeping a close eye on things after todays price action.
It is interesting that a couple of big fund managers substantially increased their holdings only a matter 3-6 weeks ago.

No, but have had CIU on watch and picked up 10k shares this morning at 246 which looks a good entry point to me. Price 60% off 2011 high and new management team's actions appear to be setting up for improving performance from 2014.

Very odd price action today given that there is no real trading volume and no "new news"

Lost its uptrend... I will hold for a couple more days but if there is no strength I will exit at a few pence loss even after taking the divi into consideration.
Given the order book weakness, they really do need to announce some new contract wins to keep things moving forward, the last contract win announcement was back in April which does make me feel rather uneasy.

Reasonable performance in the end and on ex dividend day.

Always nice to collect a few quid, especially when the share price is in a strong uptrend as you are more likely to see strength in the share price on going ex div.

Interesting the level of institutional buying going on here recently.
I am just above b/e so happier to be above water but still feel that a valuation closer to 300 would not be unreasonable, what they need to do now is win some decent sized contracts.

Operationally this business was clearly a disgrace and I assume that the new management has no confidence in their historical ability to bid properly for work, hence the talk about improving their bidding process.
I hold and am a bit under water.
From my perspective, I am reassured that they have largely stemmed the operating losses in AP.
They are profitable, cash flow positive and paying a pretty decent covered divi so the big question is can they start to rebuild the order book over the next 6 months.
I will hold for now as the divi will provide some support but it is clearly not all rose covered cottages and they need to show that they can win new work going forward.
I agree that the share price will struggle for upward momentum until they are able to announce some decent sized new contract wins.

Right thread.. but writing too quickly!

"...nevertheless the [asia pacific] region as a whole is expected to be loss making for the full year"

Overall order intake is 65% of the H1 last year. Asia Pacific order intake is only 18% of the corresponding period before!

Though perhaps the expected loss is because of the reduced orders..

It'd be interesting to go back and see how good a predictor the reported order book is. Maybe I'll have a go at that if I get time. Down 35% worries me. At best it suggests that we're not going to see a big rise in the share price until orders start appearing, which presumably won't be until the current phase of sorting out the business internally is complete.

Not sure if you are on the right thread Martin as CIU just reported pretty decent operating profit and a move to being cash flow positive.

Presumably people are concerned that next year's orderbook is 35% smaller than this years? Though if they're losing loss making business, maybe it won't be so bad.

I do find it rather odd that brokers keep issuing positive notes but it is mostly their own trading desks that marked the share price down heavily yesterday.
I am still unclear how an "in line" trading statement on a company trading on a single digit forward p/e can result is such a large drop in the share price
I have decided not to exit at a smallish loss at present, mostly because I don't have another home for the cash.

I'm a bit more positive than some. Think Oatley is a big improvement and he seems to be very thorough. I did very well out of Hamworthy. See this as a bit of a tuckaway -it obviously takes time to get all the ducks lined up. Statement was a curate's egg -mix of quite good and not so good.

I'm still in profit having bought in January and selling half @£3.

I think I'll hold for today and see if there is a bounce - I also have LAM - which I'm now just in profit on and SFR +20%.

Never paid any attention to broker targets they are usually contra indicators.
I am sure it will get to 300 but I suspect it could take a year to get there and I am not waiting around for it to cycle back down and then up again.
It looks like I will take a hit as I suspect I won't get out for much more than 260p which is a small loss for me.

Just read the results fully and decided that I will get out hopefully around 270.
It would appear that they are pretty negative about all their major market prospects over the next 12 months.
It is clear that Australia is now in a long term down cycle so no real money to be made there in the next few years.
What concerns me most is that when you dig into the results you actually see that margins are under pressure right across the board.
